So with TO and FLA getting closer to the out than the in, they will likely be sellers in the next week.

Who can we get from these teams to help us...

Have the habs and leafs ever made a real trade....i can't see anyone coming from the leafs over to the bright side, however, i can see us trading up with Florida, besides Jokinen or Bowmeester who else on that team would you be interested in, ok yeah Luongo, i mean realistic.  Teams like the jackets, wild, sharks, blackhawks, coyotes and so on in the west would be good for the habs, that way next year whoever they trade up won't come back and bite us in the ass.....like Leclair

Florida has a number os players I covet. The ones you mentioned, plus Van Ryn and Anthony Stewart (a huge Hab Fan) come to mind. That team has a lot of potential... let's see if Keenan can keep it together or if he becomes 'Mad' Mike, a la Islanders.

If Laffs want to dump salery for rebuilding puposes, they'll probably look for the best trade regardless of where it comes from. If we have the best deal to offer, I can't see them refusing. Now saying that, the only player that would interest me is Sundin.

I remember the Courtnall for Kordic trade.  Good ol Gord Stellick, he'll never hear the end of that one sided deal.  Anyway, I don't think it's realistic to see a trade between the Leafs and Habs.  Also, I wouldn't say the Leafs are sellers.  They're not out of it yet.  A few wins in a row and if the Habs falter a bit then everything changes.

Tonight's games and next week could paint a cleare pictures.

Manton, I don't know if you remember Stellick because you are in the GTA or not, but, he does the morning show on the Fan 590, and you are right, people still bring that trade up today.

yeah living in the toronto area I listen to the fan 590 alot and love the fact they rip Stellick over the trade as they call it.  But in Stellick's defense he has a good sense of humor.

One reason i love listening to the fan590 is the moronic Leaf fans that call in and talk trade talk.  Like the other day when this guy calls in and saids, if were going to trade McCabe trade him for Ovechkin.  Can't remember the host but he said the guy was nuts or somewhere along those lines.  But the caller kept pushing for the trade and really believed McCabe was in the same class as Ovechkin. Finally the host got upset and cut the guy off.  Finally the host made some sort of comment on how stupid some leaf fans really are.  With trade predictions like that I have to agree!  In my opnion McCabe is a terrible d-man, yes he is having a great offensive year and I can't argue with that.  but in his own end he is lousy and takes alot of stupid penalties and then complains all the time.  The guy went from 4 teams in five years and is known to be an a hole in the dressing room.  Not to mention on the street when i met him in Montreal and had no class at all. After team Canada lost everyone kept saying who should of played and not played.  How McCabe made this team is beyond me, he was minus four and hardly played at all.  Dan Boyle was sitting in the stands!!!!!

some mentioned Anthony Stewart as someone to trade for, I believe he is out for along while with a broken wrist.

I know Stellick takes a lot of heat for the Kordic/Courtnall trade but the coach at the time John Brophy hated Courtnall and who was not the toughest player out there (LOL) at the time so not a Brophy type player & Brophy pushed for a trade to get a tougher team and he got it and The Habs benefited big time........

Why would you want  Leaf player ? We make fun of the all year and now we want their garbage. I think we are fine without any newly acquired former Leafs.

Yes I am quite familiar with Stellick as I live in Whitby and listen to the FAN 590.  I like Stellick, he's pretty balanced with his comments unlike others at that station or at 640 Talk.

One of my highlights during the day is when Hogan or McCown open up the phones and you hear stuff like "Uh, yeah this Tony from Mimico.  I think the Leafs should make a 22 team deal and get Jagr, Ovechkin, Sakic, Naslund, Staal, Heatley, etc for all of the Leafs."  I have actually heard one intelligent Leaf (now, that's an oxymoron) fan call in last Friday.  He blamed the state of the Leafs on the fans.  His reasonning being that since the fans keep selling out the ACC and previously the Gardens, regardless of the skill level that the Leafs put out there, there isn't any incentive to put a better product on the ice.  Actually made some sense.

The irony is that the Leafs have no problem getting free agents, for the most part, and they do spend money. They just don't spend it wisely.

The last year we had NHL hockey, the Leafs were the third highest spending team.
