Game Thread| Montreal @ Tampa Bay| March 4th, 2006

Montreal has earned a point in 7 straight games and are trying to make that push to stay in the top 8. A win against Tampa would not only bring us within 2 of Tampa, we also have a game in hand. I win for us and a loss for New Jersey would also bring us 3 points back of 6th. Shouldnt look too far ahead though, We have the Thrashers, Bruins and Islanders all on our heels itching to get in. Hope Huet can continue his magic and the team plays another solid game! Go Habs Go!!!

And-o is worried about this one!  T-Bay has a number of guys who seem to have their way with the Habs.

Let's hope for another defensive gem...solid special teams...and maybe a few more offensive surprises 5-on-5 for a change.

Well, if the Higgins - Koivu - Ryder line can keep it going and Kovalev Ribs Perez can chip in a couple, we should be fine!! Huet is the man!!! 8 in a row would be awesome!!

On paper, they're a much better team with many more dangerous players.

We have to play defensive and help Huet do his thing.

Higgins from Ryder at 0:12.

1-0 after one, but outshot 10-2.  Huet must be on again!

What is with all the penalties?! I think that is our greatest weakness right now and it will exhaust us, especially after the Olympics. Huet is going to need to be rested and soon.

Good stuff! Ribs getting stronger on the puck and doing good things offensively and defensively. This has to be his strongest game of the season. Zed, another strong game. Higgins, our monster player.

When Huet gets congratulated after a win, AB smiles!

Me too!  Also so glad to see Bulis score....what a little firecracker.  I've always had lots of faith in him.  And Kovy?  Still doing his thing.

I thought Ribeiro had a solid game. He just looks less "me me me" than he used to. He played with a bit of grit too. Good for him. He just missed Kovalev with a sweet pass at the end of the game there.

I thought Rivet was awsome again.

Higgins is looking more and more like a star in the NHL

Koivu looked tired I thought( adreneline hangover from olympics is over...will take him 1-2 games now to recover). He was invisible.

Did anyone notice Gainey was rolling 4 lines tonight? I think that should help preserve Koivu.

Huet was solid again. He looks comfortable. He has a calming effect doesn't he.

I have not been a big fan of Komi this year but tonight he played really well.

Begin was awsome on the PK. Pure guts.

Where is Markov? He was invisable tonight. Not a bad game...just not his stand-out self.

Another great "effort" game from Zednik, and he was rewarded with a cheap goal( thank-you Graeme).

Any one think TB might be interested in Theo?...Richards...

I actually thought Bonk looked terrible several times tonight.

I don't care much for Perez. I can't put a finger on it. He just makes dumb plays sometimes.

Bulis has 16 goals. He should end the season with 20+. AND a solid defensive forward. Why is his name in the trade rumours? no way I figure.

Wow Muller, I agree with everything you said! Just to add to this, I think Markov is tired as he played a lot at the games. Another thing to add is I heard on CBC intermission, that Tampa don't want to move Richards!

Richards isn't going anywhere. I am 99.9% sure. And I also agree with the list above, except Markov as it did sound like he had a bad game. Rare for him though, so am not worried.

Actually I don't think Markov was so much invisible as bad. This was the worst game from him in as long a time as I can remember. And Koivu was pretty invisible (but great on faceoffs).

Kovalev was hit and miss, but the other guys who played a lot in the olympics had fairly weak games (Koivu, Markov - who both played well in the first two games back), and I wonder if they're not feeling the effects right now. Aside from Huet these days, Kovalev, Koivu and Markov are our three best players, and I'm concerned that they all played a LOT during the olympics.

Anyway, great to get the win! More standout Huet.

Good for Higgins, but also nice to see Ribeiro and Zednik heavily involved. I'm especially glad about Zednik because he's so streaky and this could be the beginning of something.
And hey, two assists from Dandenault? What can this all mean?

Are you wishing, or did this really happen?
