What I love about this place.
Permalink Closed

With all the negativity going on between posters over the past little while, I figured I'd try to shed a little light. One of the things I love about coming here to gohabs.com is it gives me a chance not only to learn more about our beloved habs, but about the game of hockey as well. Growing up, my father was a big leafs fan, so I would always hear things like "That Dick Irvin was the most biased sports commentator is history" or him getting upset when someone refers to Jean Beliveau as the classiest player in the game. Just recently he complained that Boom Boom only scored his goals because he sat on the blueline waiting for the two-line pass?

Either way, it's nice to come here and get another view (although maybe equally as biased) and to learn the finer points of the game from people who know how it works, if everyone involved with the sport had the same opinion, it would get pretty old fast.

Hey Zulraith- is your Dad still alive and if so has he ever witnessed the Harry Neale/Bob Cole Leaf love in on Saturday Nights?lol. Like many of the opinions on here, opinions are all a matter of perspective and how you look at things. Leafs fans think that Cole is awesome. By the way too bad you were not a bit older, Nilsey and I are getting together for a brew Friday afternoon in Halifax. Come to think of it..Nilsey are you old enough to drink?

Agreed 100% Steven.  Imagine how boring this site would be without disagreements.  Whether they are contrived out of boredom, or honest genuine animosity, one of the things that makes Gohabs so enjoyable is the constant back 'n forth.

Like Jerry Williams used to say on Boston radio whenever someone disagreed with someone else's opinion, "That's why they make chocolate and vanilla".

No better words to describe the personailities on this site.

P.S. How ironic is it that my post - the about how good it is for this site to have dissent - is one that agrees with your post?  Hmmm.  Maybe I should have told you that your post was crap, and we should all just get along???  Nah.

Chronologically I'm way too old; mentally might be another story.................

I was thinking of inviting Zulrath along; he might be 19?

My father can't understand why when the habs and leafs play each other, I prefer to watch them on SRC, so you're right, it's all about perspective.

Thats ok, I am not much of a drinker either But if you are around, Nilsey is meeting me in the lobby at the Prince George at 2:30 on Friday afternoon. We are just going to sit around over a beer and probably over anylize the Florida game from the night before. You are certainly welcome.

I'm not much of a drinker either, Zulrath (plus I'll be driving), so why don't you join us?  The SMU Huskies are out of the playoffs, so we missed the chance to meet over a game.

I seem to recall we had a pens fan here at one time, and even he got along pretty well with us. Whatever happened to him?

Oh! Can I come too! lol
Actually, a funny story. I was on Korean Air and I asked for what the word for 'Canada' was and after some confused conversation between the exceptionally polite, helpful (and attractive) stewardesses, they went to the back and returned with a Labatt Blue. I said no thanks (I'm actually allergic to carbonation! Gah!) and later found out the word to 'Canada' is just that, 'Canada'.

Shame, I found that guy very funny.

BTW, I said I'm not much of a drinker, not a non-drinker.  I love a beer, but have too many and they no longer love me.............

I completely agree that this site is so enjoyable because of all the discussions, pro and con, that honest and intelligent and sometimes not like-minded people have here. We are together in our love of the Habs, if not on the finer points of what the team needs to do to win.

But having said that -- how can anyone drink BUDWEISER???? I wouldn't let that stuff run down my leg!!!! What kind of moron drinks Bud? You must be a horrible human being, Johab! I have lost all respect for you! It is an affront to my sensibilities that you would post such a thing!

Ach... to each his own, eh? For me, it's gotta be a Guinness.

Glad you're not getting personal, Desi................

Actually I have great disdain for American beer (except Coors, which is Molson's anyway), but whenever I go down there I find myself drinking Bud Light.  Somehow on the beach in Florida, it goes down pretty good.....................

I also absolutely love Guiness, but the stuff you buy in cans just doesn't taste the same.

Cheers!

Of the beer ive had Plouf, Bud is so far my favorite, with Molson a close second. But then again, all ive tried is Bud, Molson, Labatt, Corona, Miller Lite and Coors. I've yet to get my hands on a case of Keiths....
