I would have to say, thanks to the Olympics that I didn't have to suffer throught the complete waste of time of another seasonal All Star game! Actually think they should just can that figure skating contest they call an All Star game!
The Olympics or the All Star Game? I would have to say, thanks to the Olympics that I didn't have to suffer throught the complete waste of time of another seasonal All Star game! Actually think they should just can that figure skating contest they call an All Star game!
It's a bit of a tossup for me. The Olympics take a lot more time, but are - for me - a lot more interesting than the NHL All-Star Game, so I don't mind. I haven't watched an entire NHL All-Star Game in decades. (That option is available to you too, AB! )

I think the ALl-Star game is a bore (except maybe some of the superskills)
For me, I don't care what impact the Olympic break has on the NHL. They could cut 5-10 games, condence the season, not let NHLers go, I don't care. Whatever it takes. And the NHL knows that Olympic hockey is more important that it is and they are going to do whatever it takes to take the high road for 2010.
Skills competition is great. The All-star game itself is a compelte waste of time, just like every other sports's all-star games. Although, Owen Nolan calling his shot was awesome.
The current format for the Olympics is gone after 2010. They should change it to only allow players under 22 years old to play in the Olympic tournament or something along those lines (another tourney does this - can't recall it??). Teams would be a lot more willing to release rookies and 2nd years guys to the Olympics than their core veterans.
