The Bruins, Leafs, and the Habs can all miss the playoffs this year for the first time in more than 80 years.

The Original 6...not the same powerhouses of the past. Parity is now the reality!

The Canadiens will make it. For sure.

The Leafs, Hawks and Bruins will not, my opinion.

The Rangers could be in contension. Nice stuff so far.

How about Detroit?

Good predictions...it's tough to make a choice:

The Leafs are 1 point out / The Bruins are 2 pionts / The Habs have the last spot 1 point ahead of the leafs with 1 game in hand

The Hawks need a miracle.

The Rangers and Detroit also need a miracle not to make it.

My unbiased choice is that Habs make the last spot available and meet Ottawa in the first round.

How far can the Rangers go? That will be something to see playoff hockey come back to NY.

Also, I really didn't know just how deep Chicago's Hawks are in the pooper. I never knew that they still do not show home games on tv in Chicago. How can the Hawks build a fanbase after letting something so basic fall down like the broadcast system?

I'll be honest, I thought the Blackhawks were gonna be the bomb this year. They won't see the playoffs for sure. Is it even mathematically possible for them to make it?

I always like seeng Boston face Montreal because we own em', but I'm up for som real ol' time hate with Toronto come late March early April.

I think the Habs making it to he play-offs is anything but "sure".  If you have watched any hockey at all this year you know that this team can implode on itself at any time.  With that said, they are capable of beating anybody.  I just don't know what team is going to show up after the break.  They had a little momentum going before the Olympics but that is now lost.  I don't like that nasty, long road trip after the Olympics, either.

I do think Toronto is going to fall out of the picture though, but I think Atlanta was surging and they are going to enter the fray.  My heart says the Habs and I think they are the best team of the 4 who will compete, but I wouldn't bet the farm on it.

Hey 24Rings,

This reminds me of our predictions right before the Canada/Russia game.

Habs will get in via the Ghosts and the Leafs will disintegrate into fine powder.

Why is it that year after year after year we are always struggling to "sneak into the playoffs".? When was the last time we got into the playoffs comfortably? I really doubt that in 3 years we will have gone from sneaking in to winning a cup.

I know, Barry. It's depressing, but it's all that we can do right now.

Somebody needs to get out the cheque book and get something done here.

We need a goalie.

Y'know, I live in Calgary and I go to a lot of the Flames games here and I have to say that they are one of the most boring teams to watch most of the time (after Minny maybe the most boring?).  They get a one goal lead and sit on it all game.

The Habs' games are usually so exciting cause they never do anything the easy way - it always has to be winning by 1 goal or going to OT or weathering the 40 shot storm (or getting totally blown out!).  Even my buddies out here who don't root for the Habs enjoy watching the games just because they usually go down to the wire everytime. I love it how we have to "sneak into the play-offs" and claw our way to gain every point.  I'll always be a Habs fan and root for their heart attack causing antics, I just don't know if my blood pressure can take it for much longer.

I do not disagree with the excitement factor 24..and maybe I place too much emphasis on where we place. But it seems to me that year after year of sneaking into the playoffs and, if lucky, a first round upset followed by a second round exit is not improvement.

Carolina will be the number 1 team in the East at the end of the season, especially if Hasek ends up going out.
