New take on Gretzky and gambling

A new take on the Gretzky gambling situation comes from one of my favourite old railroaders (he’s around 75) – he figures that the charges and the story are just New Jersey payback for that comment Gretzky made in the 80s about the Devils being a ‘Mickey Mouse organization’.

It took them a while, but they got him back.

I spent three years as a trainman on the Northern Alberta Railways in the 70s and a group of retired oldtimers still gets together for Monday morning coffee. I drop by when I can -- some of those old railroad guys are still pretty sharp (and have good memories, too).

 Interesting, Don't you have to just put that behind you and call it a juvenile statement! I think Gretz was 19 then!

I personally am getting tired of hearing about this supposed scandal. Ever since it's come out I've heard the name Gretzky about 4 times as much as Tocchet.

Another nut case on the radio said it was just an American plot to get the Canadian team distracted.  It was all a big plot and conspiracy.  It was a full moon and the 13th when these comments were made, so I forgive the old coot.


 


(Note - by old coot, I mean no offence to the resident old coots on this board.)
