Mario, After reading the blog I cannot imagine being in your shoes. What were you feeling when you were walking into the D room??. What an experience it must have been. Congrats to you and keep up the good work

Funny you should ask.  I noticed the Habs dressing room from a long corridor.  As i approached it, the doors shut.  They have these huge Star trek like sliding doors with proximity motion sensors that slide open.  I walk in, I notice the gym room to my room behind a plexiglass.  Saku was on the stationary bike.  I couldn;t help but notice how tight the dressing room is.  And I recall it was done on purpose to reflect the dressing room at the Montreal Forum.  Also, it's tight to bring the team closer together.

Surreal for sure!

Well done, Mario!

Great to be a professional beat reporter, I'm sure, and don't forget to be a fan along the way!

Hey MacNeil, I noticed that as well, but what got my attention the most was the three pucks in the crease and no one in front to put them in. Looks like Rivet is there, but most likely in shock that he's that close whithout getting hit by a lumber jack.

Thanks Mario.  I guess we will live vicariously through you and your experiences.  BTW - The closest I've ever been to the Habs dressing room was at the Hockey Hall of Fame.

I haven't been to the Bell Centre.  However, I did get to see 3 games at the Forum.  All went into overtime with Montreal coming out winners twice and tied once.  Ironically, the first was against the Canucks.

Mario, will you only be doing Bell Centre games?  And only for the Latvian press?  Will you accept questions from the board (maybe we post em and you pick one)?  Where there any journalists there that were less than nice to you?  What did you wear?

Yes, only Bell Centre games.  Yes I a have the liberty to write about anything and not solely for Latvian press.  I willa ccept questions from the board, but keep in mind, after each game, members that stay behind for interviews is totaly luck of the draw.  For example, Saturday there was craig Rivet, Steve Begin, and Christobal Huet.

Eveyone I spoke to were very polite with me.  Tont Marinaro made me feel at home, and the folks from inside Hockey were real nice to me too.  For the regulars, it's like a close knit group.   Some wear jeans, some wear casual, and some wear suits (TV guys)

Mario, I must imagine that in your wildest dreams you would have never thought you would be doing that job. I can only say good luck and enjoy the excitement wish I was there

10 years ago when I started this venture, this was a goal of mine.  However, over the years I learned that the Canadiens only handed out media credentials to print/tv/radio.  And not to WEB sites .  So I never thought I would get my chance.

When you introduce yourself before a question, what will you say? "Mario from gohabs.com" or something "Mario from the Latvian Gazette"...

I'd probably get myself booted out as soon as I stepped through the door!

But it would probably be worth security dragging me out of there.

I remember a few years back, actually, now that I think of it, it was awhile back, when I was 16. I got a special tour of the "Molson" Center. And when me and 3 friends went into the Habs dressing room, someone touched someone's equipment that was there, and the person giving us the tour freaked out big time lol.

Are you going to be doing this regularly?  You should post some of the juicy rumours and inside rumblings that you can dig up from your new colleagues on here...

Mario, remember that if you have a juicy rumour that needs to be kept under wraps but that you just gotta share, you can always trust me...afterall, you trust me to moderate your board here.  And if you ever need someone to take notes while you are on the catwalk, let me know :)
