Well, Montreal at home is a different team than on the road. This is a should win, a must win and an "I-hope-they-show-up-and-win" win. If Huet starts, Habs 4-2. If Theo starts, Habs 6-5.
Love the optimism, but to think montreal will score 6 goals... unless bulis pulls a rabbit out of his @$$ again, chances are we wont be scoring any more than 4 goals, i like the 4-2 final ( with THEO in net ) and a empty net goal...

They have been must wins for while now. This time it has to be! They need to make it up to Huet! How many of Huet's great performances are they going to waste?
Oh Johab! Are they really going with Theo? I thought it would be Huet again! I guess I'm not surprised!
TO what i heard on TSN. Gainey REALLY likes Theo, and Theo likes gainey. ( i would too if he signed my a check for 5 million/ year. Thing is Gainey wants the guy hes paying the money to, to be playing the games. And sitting theo on the bench isnt making him any better. ....isnt doing us any better playing him though... Honestly...id trather see Huet in net...who doesnt

MONTREAL – After falling 3-1 in Boston on Thursday, the Canadiens will have their chance for revenge Saturday as they host the Bruins in the second game of their home-and-home series. The meeting gets underway at noon at the Bell Centre.
The Bruins will be looking to pick up yet another point Saturday for the 10th time in their last 11 games. Mike Sullivan’s troops have not lost on opposing ice since Dec. 28 in Florida, winning five straight on the road, including a 5-0 shutout over the Senators on Monday.
Following this afternoon’s fourth meeting of the season, the Canadiens and Bruins won’t meet again until Mar. 9 at TD Banknorth Garden in Boston.
A welcome return: Sidelined for the last eight games with a shoulder injury, Andrei Markov will be back in the lineup this afternoon against the Bruins. With the 27-year-old out of the lineup in 2005-06, the Canadiens are 3-7-1; Markov missed three games earlier in the season due to a suspension. The Russian blueliner, who is among the top 10 in the league with an average of 0.75 points per game, will aim to get the Canadiens’ power-play back on track. Without the services of Markov in its last eight games, Montreal has gone 4-for-34 with the extra attacker.
There’s always tomorrow: Thursday’s loss was just the 27th time the Canadiens fell to the Bruins in the first matchup of a home-and-home series. Montreal, who hasn’t been swept in these series since 1956-57, has a good habit of bouncing back in the second meeting. The Canadiens are 13-8-5 in the back-end of a home-and-home after dropping the first half.
Plekanec piles ‘em up: He may have been out 14 games with a knee injury but Tomas Plekanec, who returned to the lineup on Jan. 23, hasn’t missed a beat. The 23-year-old Czech native scored his seventh goal of the season in the first period of Thursday’s contest, bringing his total to six points in six games since his return. In 37 games this season, Plekanec has registered 18 points, placing him among the top 30 rookies in the league.

ok I know things aren't going well but if we win the next two, today and Super bowl Sunday we could possibly be in a playoff spot! funny as it may seem, but Toronto lost to Washington last night, and the thrashers lost too Florida. I hate being in a position where we have to hope for other teams to lose so we can get into the playoffs but that is what it is boiling down too. Seems like its been like that for many years now!!! So Montreal wake the f#@$ up and start playing hockey and win today. You guys play for the greatest team of all time, and they're called the MONTREAL CANADIENS so sh%@ or get off the pot!!!!! Enough is enough already, my frustration is turning to anger, cause these guys stink!
Figaro- I too love yoru optomism. But unless we can start getting more than 16 shots a game we will need to hope tHat Theo starts for Boston today for us to score 6. Every game for a month all I have heard is must win, must win. We all know that. But the problem is that the players just do not care.

When you look at the players playing well for boston youcan see why the trade worked out so well. Now this week they claimed the rw langfield off waivers and he has paid off. Why does it seem other teams trades are working out so well compared to ours
So far no improvement is there, since shots are 15-7 and we have three more penalties to boston's 1.
I do not want to hear the goaltending excuse today...if not for Huet so far it would be 3-0. A bit more jump today but just no one willing to pay the price yet.

Notice how the Rangers have been easing Weekes back into confidence, playing him the occasional game, timing it right? I think it's clear we need to totally stick with Huet and give Theo only the odd start for a while. Instead of getting Theo to play through it (that approach clearly isn't working), we need to give him a month of low-pressure. .
Habs have deserved most of their penalties but you can't convince me that Bos has only deserved 1 penalty thus far. I've seen a number of obstructions but I guess the player wasn't wearing a red jersey. Pleks was just pulled down but no penalty.
Lack of effort again tonight but when you are continually playing shorthanded, your PK players become tired and they are not able to contribute to their usual lines.

The penalties we are taking are what coaches call "lazy penalties". Hooks, cross checks...and holds..the penalties you take when you do not want to make that extra effort or skate a bit harder to catch the guy. We are playing shorthanded because of a lack of effort. By the way anyone notice that Carbo is miked today? One time he is talking to Gainey about something and Gainey is just looking off into space.

I have posted previously that Bob Gainey is the one to blame for the condition on the team, citing his i) signing of Theo, ii) trading of Garon, iii) signing of Bonk, iv) failure to land a solid D man, v) waiting to fire Claude Julien, vi) failure to see that Ribs would fall flat.
After the last 10 games, I am adding three more "Gainey errors" to this list
vii) signing of Kovalev (sorry, this guy has been a total bust ... poor work ethic, inconsistent play, and all this for more than $4 million
viii) playing Komisarek, when the guy is basically useless ... can't score, can't pass either (ever notice that when he touches the puck he either ices it or clears the zone ... he can't move the puck or pass), takes very bad penalties ... he's -10 i think with lots of penalty minutes. Why is he even in the lineup today? Cote at least can pass and doesn't take foolish penalties ... Gainey should have left Komi out of the lineup today
ix) revolving lines .... for christ sake Bob, switching the lines every damn game is not the answer!
I can't begin to explain how dissappointed I am with BG's performance. The sad thing is ... what's Boivin and GG to do? Who would want to replace BG?

Again the Habs are playing well in the 3rd. Good goal by Markov-we really missed this guy- and shots are now 28-25 Bos. Good effort by Ribeiro to keep the puck in Bruins zone. GO HABS GO.
What a stupid penalty. Rivet should know you cannot play with 2 sticks. Having said that, why wasn't there 2 penalties called against Boytn. One Ref was calling the 1st. penalty for tripping and the other was calling crosschecking. Is it not 'nice' to call 2 penalties against the same player!!!
Anyone the Habs win it 2-0. Great win and I believe the first shut-out of the year. Hopefully some of Huet's play rubs off on Theo.
C'mon fellow posters. What has happened? Tried the chatroom-no one there. Almost no postings on this board. We seem to have plenty when the Habs lose. Our team won-lets celebrate!!!
