Guys, I think Gainey should stay with Huet in net until the skaters get it together!
This is crazy and I know the coaches will never do this but I would tell the boys to not worry about defense and go all out on offense! Just like the last minutes of the game! The defense pinch as much as possible and just go to the net hard! Trust that Huet will be the last line of defense! The guys need to just go out and put some fun back in the game by scoring goals! If they lose, then they lose but score goals and get the offense going!
I just don't think we have a team for a defensive structure or the talent and smarts back in our zone! The days of the shooting it off the boards is not smart hockey! It's about good D- breakouts and puck possession! We just don't have the personal for this! These guys are thinking too hard on a defensive system and it's killing their offense! How can you keep playing in your own D-zone all game! Shoot it in and forecheck hard! Three men deep! We have good enough skaters to back check! Even if we take penalties on opponents out numbered chances. At least that's a better penalty then the bone head ones we take anyway! Again, it's time to do some damage in the offensive zone! It'll get the boys in the game!
I agree that Huet needs should start again and again until he blows it OR until Theo has a little more vacation time. Unless you believe that the season is caput anyway then who cares who plays.

Figaro, Do you agree about the offense thing also?

I think that they should forget about defense because they dont remember it anyway and havent been playing it. SO let Huet worry about the net. He's calm and collected back there. I'd rather win 7-5 every night than lose 3-1, 4-1 etc. But, nothing will change and we're just running our board nuts with sollutions that will never come to fruition.
I agree in total. Theo needs to ride the plank a while. We need a goalie to build confidence with a few strong games. I just hope the team does not break down so much that Huet is bombarded in a game that ruins his confidence So I agree with Huet starting all games in the near future
It's extremely rare that I agree with all of what some writes on this message board but this is one of the times. It's been 2 games that the Habs have been putting pressure in the first period...forechecking and putting offensive pressure. The result is that they get the scoring chances they need. Especially against the Bruins, this system would definately work. In addtition, it seems that they only play with confidence when they are leading anyway. Once their behind, the totally collapse.
I'm just starting to think that this team really isn't as good as we had hoped. It's possible that they surprized everyone early in the season, but now teams have hit their stride and the majority of the league is now better than the Habs. They sure as hell don't look good and they haven't for 3 months. I think they are arguably one of the worst teams in the league lately. They don't play hard, they don't score, they don't keep pucks out of the net and they get their asses mopped regularly. I love the Habs as much as everyone on here, but I am beggining to think that this is the reality of this team. I'm sure some people will totally take offense to this, but all I have to say is, prove me wrong.

PFFFT..when you are averaging 17 shots a game you can put GOD between the pipes and not win. This team has NO system, no desire..and most importantly..no HEART. On a positive note..my company is now working on an invention for the goalies of teams playing the habs to use during the game. The pedals will be adapted so they can fit their skates in them and they will be able to get a workout and stay fresh while the puck spends 90% of the game in the other end.
THE GOALIE BIKE. DON'T GET COLD WHILE THE PUCK IS IN THE HABS END. NO MORE GAMES WHERE YOU DO NOT NEED TO TAKE A SHOWER AFTER. AT LEAST YOU WILL HAVE THE LOOK AFTER THE GAME THAT YOU HAD A WOROUT. ENDORSED BY:
Tim Thomas # 30 Boston Bruins "I used the goalie bike Thursday night against the Habs. Hasek told me I should really try it after he used it the last time Ottawa played Montreal. And Dom was right!!! It kept me fresh and the habs were so slow coming up ice that it allowed me to get off the bike and stop the puck when they got to our end!! Of course I only had to do it 17 times but still..."
Dominik Hasek- Ottawa Senators " I used the goalie bike last week against Montreal and I loved it!! I get shutout..I know easiest shutout since I play Pee Wee in Prague. But the good thing is that the goalie bike give me the workout that the habs could not!! And the optional book holder was awesome..I read War and Peace against them last game..3 times!"
