When the Habs were on a tear the beginning of the season, the head office was praised. Now that we don't have the superstar goaltender the players counted on, we are in an awful rut.
However, just take a second and realize that these are the same players as the beginning of the year. No one can ever forcast that a team can go from one exteme to the other. Now BG and the head office have to shuffle and try to put the pieces together.
I just can't understand why some are bashing Gainey. Is he Kovalev, is he Ribeiro, is he Bonk, is he Zednik, is he Theodore? Take a second and reread the names I just mentioned and imagine that those four players were just having good a year, not their greatest year, but simply a good year. Would they be in this position? Never!
I'm not going to say that you were one, but alot of posters were calling for Julien's head when he couldn't get full effort from these guys. Why should it be any different now?

That's the point. It's not a coaching problem it's PLAYERS who have lost motivation or are not willing to pay the price to win games. The Head Office has good young players. Gainey was trying to create a chemistry betwwen the vets and the rooks. When I saw the first 2 games of the year, I realized that the young players are only going to get better surrounding by Koivi, Kovy, Zed, Theo etc. However, like I mentionned, these players are having sub-par seasons.
Imagine if they were having simply good not great seasons...Julien would still be behind the bench. This is why I strongly believe that no player besides Bouillon and Markov are untouchable.

My only problem with BG is why hasn't he made a move? From the sounds of it, he's had a lot of opportunities and interest. You could say that the right offer hasn't been there but meanwhile, they are sucking balls and sliding down the standings. I like BG but I think a lot of people on this site and in Habsland would like to see a change somewhere in the line-up to improve the team.

I truly belive it is a coaching problem. Not that Julien or Gainey are bad coaches, but the team has for whatever reason blocked them out. With few exceptions, they are not putting forth their full effort every game. Look at Buffalo. There really isn't any players on that team that at the beginning of the year anyone would have said they were an all-star. They are a rag tag group, that plays well together and they leave it all on the ice. Their record shows it. And that's why Lindy Ruff is being talked about as coach of the year, and not Bryan Murray in Ottawa.

The majority of us in Habsland believe we NEED a trade. I agree. If we really look at each player, we can see that we don't need 10 new players. We need 2-3 character players and we need to remove the cancers.
The problem is that even players like Zednik, Bonk, Ribs are playing low quality hockey;therefore, their value decreases.
