Self-destructing, weak play by the defence especially Souray.  Too many penalties.  Forwards are standing still.  What happened?

Souray looked like a pylon on that second goal.  He has done that a few times this year, when players have blown by him like he was standing still.  Can anyone say "Jason Spezza"?

Yep....Not that Rivet wasn't to blame himself, but you can see him sort of looking over towards Souray in disbelief afterwards, as in "how I could possibly expect him to beat Souray THAT cleanly?". You have to be able to at least slow someone down.

Anyway, it all started with Kovalev's half-hearted forecheck. I mean if you're going to be half-assed, you might as well not commit yourself too.

And I'm not sure what's up with Higgins, but he doesn't seem to be himself lately.

Habs got a free one on that goal that wasn't called.  It sure did not hit the cross-bar!  Let's hope they can build on that.  (God, we're grasping at straws now.......)

Yep, and they should even be down 4-1 based on that first power play. It was a good call not to allow the goal, but the Habs deserved to give up a goal the way they were hiding behind Huet. It was pathetic, every Hab trying to practically get into their own net at once. Why not defend? As in "defend", a verb. Active. Not "defend" as just taking up space and screening your goalie.

How many goals of the year are going to be against Souray!

Why are we playing Ribiero over Bonk - at least Bonk is somewhat defensive.

If are veterans are going to suck wind - then play our young guns and give them experience.

I don't understand

I can't believe I'm saying this, but Ribeiro has been one of our best tonight. But HUET. At least there's one tiny positive here. He's grace under pressure, seeing everything right now. Gotta love seeing that.

Maybe they'll fluke out and even it up and get an undeserved point.

Can we find a few more Begins somewhere?  He was super on killing Rivet's penalty.  If only some of that energy would rub off on the other Habs.

Actually Ribeiro, Koivu, Zednik, all look alive lately...too bad Zednik can't keep the puck on his stick or hit a one-timer anymore.

Pleks has a future.

Too little too late on the part of the Habs.  Huet was by far the best Hab tonight and Gainey must go with him on Saturday afternoon.

Sad effort (or lack thereof) tonight.  Huet kept a game close that wasn't close.  The shots tell the story.  Yikes!

It goes something like this:

Habs have no hustle at all.

Which means they are losing all the little one-on-one battles.

Which means they are always out of position.

Which means they have to hook, trip, grab, etc., which is a penalty.

And their penalty-killing sucks.

Can't win a game that way............................

Zednik looked woeful tonight.  His head is in the clouds.  In fact, I 'm starting to think the Habs' main problem - other than Theo - is they're stupid!  They always seem to make the wrong call - shoot when they should pass, pass when they should shoot, pass to covered men, not pass to open men................it hurts too much to continue..................

Just saw the three stars - Bergeron, Boyes, Boynton.  How Huet doesn't get a star is unbelievable!

Heartless. Hopeless. Pathetic.

Yeah..it doesn't seem to be an effort issue as much as a focus issue - when to think, when to act, when to look around you, when to stop watching the #@!$ puck.

Stupid. Like I was saying about Bulis....he has heart, he has skills and speed and strength, but he doesn't seem to do what needs to be done at the right time.
Zednik, don't get me started. Kovalev....after the first ten minutes he pretty much did only dumb, half-hearted things. Souray - looked good at first then...

and some bonehead penalties, bad giveaways, players on the same team banging into each other (on several occasions). People running around looking to hit people when they need to stay in position. People staying back in position when it's time to step up and make a play.

It's the Brisebois disease. We can't get rid of his ghost. I mean people were skating and hitting (well, missing), kind of like Brisebois, but they were rarely going in the right direction.

I really miss Markov above all. Our defense was BRUTAL. Made the forwards look nearly average.
