Prediction - Theo done with Habs
Permalink Closed

I will go out on a limb and say that Theo's inconsistency and weak play has come to a head tonight in his poor play against Carolina.  He will be moved within the week (maybe even an Eastern Conference team if one will have him).

Habs will get very little in return.

I will be glad to see him go. His confidence is shattered, and in Montreal, with the fans expectations, it's pretty unlikely he will be able to resurrect his play. It's brutal to have sit and watch him ...

Anyone agree?  Anyone think I'm wishing in a star?  Anyone think that he's untradable?

Anyone think Theo can turn things around, and we should hold onto him?

I agree , In fact I predict he will be traded before the Boston games this week.

He is untradeable. Supposing you GAVE him away for a bag of pucks..who, in this age of salary caps..i sgonna tie up 4.5 million of cap space for a guy who does not look like he can even SEE the puck. Anyone who thinks he is going anywhere is dreaming. Th enail on that coffin started when Gainey signed him to the huge deal. The lid was permanently shut with his play the last month.

Barry, I agree Theo's salary makes him a difficult trade, so the Habs will have to eat some of his salary (which they will do with their own cap room) to make him more attractive.

I'd trade him for Theodore Cleaver! And if they'd throw in Whitey and Gilbert I might give 'em Saks (tonight!)

In that case, why not send him down to Hamilton to find his muse?

I note Danis is in the AHL All-star game!  Bring him back up!

Yes Nil d. I would try that. I'm with Barry on this one. I doubt any team will sink that kind of money on him now. He is beyond terrible. So why not ship him to Hamilton and see how he does. If some team claims him off waivers, then they eat the rest of his contract and we free up cap room. Good call Nil d

It's not Gainey's fault however Barry. Did he have a choice REALLY but to sign him longterm in Montreal? Really? Actually Barry, I would be interested to know your take on that since you seem to pile it all over Gainey( I have to question the integrity of that given your close ties to CJ). It's honarable to be loyal to a friend but I'm not sure we are reading the objective Barry that I have been reading now for 4-5 years...

I floated the idea of sending Theo down to Hamilton more than 3 weeks ago on this board ... got little response from anyone, except a few who said "it'll never happen".

Nice to see a few posters catching up with my thinking.

That goes to show you, he's no longer (if he ever was) a number 1 goalie.

I know your post is directed to Barry but I think you're right about Theo being untradable right now! What I don't agree with is you, thinking Gainey takes zero blame because of the outside influences thus signing him to big money! That's crazy! Remember Gainey is the one that told the media to stay out of the room and called the fans chicken **** after they booed Brisebois!

If the ouside forces are rattling his brain into forcing him to sign big contracts than he has no control what so ever! I go against that and say he has too much control right now! No way he should be coaching! He needs to fix his mistakes rather than compound them with his subjective coaching!

Muller- to be honest I am a bit insulted by the insinuation that I am calling out Gainey because of any loyalty I have to Julien. CJ is gone and is enjoying his time at home and no one is happier he is out of this mess than I am.  So anyone on this board who thinks that my posts are in any way related to Gainey's firing og a good friend are just plain wrong. Claude has no bitterness whatsoever so why should I?

I said in my posts when Gainey was trying to sign Theo (which was well before the Julien firing) that I felt it was a terrible mistake to give him that kind of money. I also said that he painted himself into a corner by trading Garon for Bonk. Theo had one good season and that was it. I indicated that Gainey should have let him go. And I stand by that.

barry, I have to disagree with you.  My source tells me that the asking price is 6 water bottles and a set of shin pads.  So far no interest, but I'll keep you posted...
