He is very happy because there is a sellout every game at the Bell Ctr. He is making his money so what does he care if the dynasty falls from grace as his wallet fills up

I saw the Habs' CFO's sister-in-law* today.  She tells me he's happy..............

* Forgot to add that to my list of credentials earlier!

He is way too busy counting his money to care about the teams performance. Once people stop going to the games you will hear a lot from the guy.

When the team misses the playoffs and Mr. Gillet realize he missed out on three home-game sellouts, he'll be a little more antsy to "rebuild".

GG is totally out of the loop.  They don't show Habs games at the Villa in the Bahamas...

Why are you guys bashing GG?? if not for him, that Habs nmight not even exist right now. So...he's American??? Big whup/...He's a lot more concerned with tradition and winning than the last bunch of French Canadian jackoffs who ran the thing into the ground.

Piling on Mr. Gillette is brutally bandwagonish...you sound like leaf fans. GG saved the franchise, and with his deep American pockets has put the team back on the map. Nobody was blaming him when the team upset the hated B's last year, were they?? or when he bought the team basically out of bankruptcy??

For shame...

Right on, David.  The business of hockey is Business.  That's why we have thirty teams, "vintage" jersey nights, thirteen teams with less than 90% home game attendance, and "Fan Cost Indexes" as high as $369.68 (New Jersey), $284.20 (Montreal, in US Dollars), and $170.61 (Carolina - lowest in the league).  Source: http://www.teammarketing.com/fci.cfm

Mr. Gillette could care less about shots on goal.  In fact, he probably thinks a shot on goal is a jigger of scotch balanced on the crossbar.  If the networks broadcast as much collegiate hockey as they do other college sports I would probably abandon the NHL altogether.  Ditto for World cup, Junior, and almost any other type of hockey including Brrom Hockey.  But, there's no money in coverage of those venues, so...... we're screwed.

Whoa!  Sorry guys.  Didn't realize there were so many huge fans of GG?  I don't think GG has "put the team back on the map" either, cause we are so far off the map it is almost funny.  Montreal packs 'em in regardless so I don't think George made that much of a gamble did he? He knew the economics wouldn't allow the league to continue.  Don't hate the guy, don't love the guy, but I think it's ok to take a shot at him isn't it for the sake of a joke?  It's not like this guy is cleaning up crime in Montreal or feeding the homeless, he just bought a hockey team for christs' sakes.
