Out of the blue you have become an angry fella? I have not noticed this in previous posts?
BUT, not to add fuel to the fire, that was the right play by Koivu. UP the boards. That's what you do in hockey. The winger was interferred with( not sure who it was). But anybody involved in hockey will tell you...that was the right play...Up the boards.
I'm going by the fact the Leafs were pinching all night, they were beating us to the puck alot, if not most, of the time in our own end. Koivu's pass up the boards was risky due to this, plus the fact it was a long "telegraphed" pass that was going back to where the play was coming from, therefore most likely there will be the opposition in the area to make a play on the puck.
I would've preferred a pass along the boards in the opposite direction. But what do I know . . .
I really don't care about that, but when I get a personal attack, I respond. Unfortunately it has to be over a keyboard. But, I will defend my position and myself, regardless of what others think.
Actually, I think Habhead might have made a post against Sak out of anger of the way the team was playing. Not sure he really meant the bash on Saku.
In a way you're correct, I call 'em as I see 'em. It wasn't an attack on Koivu because it was Koivu . . . itf it were Beliveau I would have said the same thing. I like Saku, always have. I think he's a great player and person, a credit to have in the organization.
But, I will defend my position and myself, regardless of what others think. Simple as that man.
Of course...you should defend your position. I think it was the right play( i've watched on replay several times). But, I can see your point. You think it was telegraphed. But his options were: 1.up the middle, 2 turn around and reverse the puck into no mans land. I would have picked the simple up the boards approach myself. However, I am not on the ice so...just an opinion.
Hopefully you won't challenge me to a duel over it
I realize it was a quick decision for Sak's, but actually I would've liked a clear up high along the glass in the opposite direction from where Saku went. As most likely there wouldn't have been a winger along the right side, so just clear the damn thing out. But, he would've had to turn around as he was on his backhand . . .
That's another thing, the Habs seem to have alot of difficulty just getting the puck out over the blueline . . . it's madening at time.

I agree on that version of the play and the options available. He might have put a bit more juice on it, to reduce the chances of having it stopped. I imagine the Leaf fans are all over that defenseman (I forget who it was) who gave the puck away in OT at the other end of the ice on a similar situation. Now THAT was a giveaway!

Haha, it wasn't over that . . . I love talking about hockey. But I don't need someone rediculing me that I supposedly learned nothing over my many years of playing/watching.
That's the problem, and why I would drop the gloves, not because someone disagrees with me on a certain play in a hockey game.
You don't always HAVE to make a "pretty" play to get the puck out of your end. The most important thing is to just get the damn thing out. The Canadiens lately have been getting into a bad habit of trying to make plays to get out of their end, wait too long sometimes, just clear the puck . . . get it out.

I also note that the shorter the pass, the better the play. Short, crisp passes are the way to go. The Habs' passes have been anything but crisp lately - in fact, the opposite of crisp (limp?).
