I'm not terribly impressed by Les Boys tonight.  Not only have they no offense, they doen't even try to have offense!  Every time they crpssed the center red line, they dumped the puck in and had a line change.  And when they were in the Leafs' zone, they tried for the perfect fancy play.  Shoot the damn puck!

Theo looked confident, I thought.  not much chance on that 5-on-3.

End of first, only down by one.  By no means an unsurmountable deficit.  TO not playing very well either.

I still have not figured out that call on Koivu..what a joke!!!!! He barely touches the guy and it is a crosscheck?!?? Typical Leafs refs. Sourays was just unfortunate..I still hate that new rule. By the way what is up with Gainey an dthe lines? I saw Ribs on the left wing with Koivu and Ryder on the right side lol..I guess desperate times call for desperate measures.

Ahh..must be leftover from The Julien era of coaching..as Kovalev said, the defence are not allowed to be creative and move the puck forward..memo to Dmen...CJ is sitting at home..ok to move the puck forward now (sense my sarcasm?)

Towards the end of the period, I am pretty sure I saw Plekanec (C), Ribeir (RW) and Ryder (LW).  Were my eyes deceiving me?

This post is for AB. Halfway through the second...

Habs tied 1-1. Both teams playing a little bit timid, understandable since they both are sucking recently. Both goaltenders have been solid, Theo a little more than Telqvuist.

Reffing was suspect in the first. Souray called for flipping out the puck in the defencive zone causing a 5-3 which obviously lead to the first goal. Habs tied it up with a nice heads up play from Bulis to Koivu defencive zone to center ice. Sak had three guys around him and got the pass to Kovy (in his skates), Kovy kicked it up to his feet and rifled it by the Telqvuist.

Since then the tempo picked up for a bit and has now settled down again.

May sound like sour grapes, but, I thought I heard the whistle on Rivet's penalty.
One question for the rules gurus out there. Why doesn't the goalie making a save count as touching the puck to stop the play on a delayed penalty? I know it doesn't count, but I am wondering why.

The team has to be in control of the puck for the whistle to be blown.

What I see are 2 pretty pathetic hockey clubs playing a game of "here you go ahead and win it". My thong is really bothering me. On a positive note, Theo has come back. Cant blame him one bit.

Funny you should say that, I was thinking near the end of the 2nd that it is no wonder these two teams are in a downward spiral.

Did you catch Ryder's comments?  He seemed to think that the Habs have put in 40 mins of effort.  I must have switched channels and not gone back to the CBC.

Not only has the reffing been terrible, the Laffs are whining after every call against them... sad.  My question is why the Habs D never stand up players at the blue-line?  They fall back and allow forwards to come in with speed every time... no dump-ins needed, they just carry the puck right through.  I have not seen one other team do that.  We also have to improve our play down low in both ends... do we ever come up with the puck down there?  Face-offs are also killing us, we rarely have control off the draw... at least scramble it!

I hate to crap on the refs (OK, maybe I like it), but that call on Bulis was absolutely the worst call I've seen this year.  The guy slammed into him, then fell down.  The call on Rivet, just before the goal, was crap too.  The Leaf penalty at the end was also very weak; clearly an "evener" in Koharskian fashion.

Good news is:  (1) Theo (great to be saying this ) is having a great game, and (2)  Habs start the third on the power play, with a fresh sheet of ice.  They will need to score.

Go Habs!

The Habs have scored 2 goals. Too bad one of them was on their own net!!!

I think it is quite obvious that BG is a worse coach then CJ. You can tell this because the Habs are not able to get any shots on net and the other teams are able to get a bunch. I don't think it was this bad with CJ.

TO ties it up. Klee. Looked like interference on the Habs and first weak one of the night on Theo.
