Guys...have you once considered what Barry33 (who is a proven close and long-time friend of CJ) is trying to get through your thick skulls regarding Saint Smurf's run of the dressing room?!?!?

C'mon guys...YOOOUUUUU HUUUUUUOOO!!!!  WAKEY - WAKEY - WAKEY!!!

Read between the lines!  Only YOU can help YOU!

...And-o for one simply cannot wait to hear the goods from Barry33 on "Sak-who" once all of this is finally over (because 10 years is ENOUGH TIME)!

(By the way...And-o thinks that Barry33 is a man of honor for not blabbing off and compromising the integrity of a friends potential future employability)

P.S.  Sheldon Souray for Captain...until Higgins or Chipper are ready for the 'C'!!!

Easy Slim.  You're not the wizard of hockey or this site.  Maybe people just want to say their piece and say it to one in particular. Just cause barry knew the deal doesn't mean someone else can't say it again. And I like Koivs and he's the captain and he's the best guy for the job right now.  AND I think Souray is overated, he had one great 1/2 season and he's been average since. He just looks good cause the blueline is pitiful.

Thanks for being a jackpot though!!!!!!

Being a Captain isn't only based on points but rather leadership!

Souray went through a hard time this season but doesn't go into hiding! His loyalty is showing as he is trying hard to earn his stripes! He leads by example on and off the ice! How many players do you know that would risk a fight and end his own career for his team?

I'm not saying he will be Captain, just that I would support it over Saks! Souray would clean out the high school BS in a hurry that Saks is in the middle of!

So what if he isn't scoring goals! Who is on this team anyway? He keeps other teams honest and I'm sure our canadian boy would honour a "C" and continue to lead by example!

As for Saks, he is looking forward to cashing in on free agency to play with his brother!

For and-o, I remember these same conversations last playing season about Saks! That should be indication that this is a chronic problem! But I have to say there is alot more posters opening their eyes to this now than before! Denial can only last so long and ten years should be enough!

I think if something does happen and Koviu is not our captian, it will be Kovalev.  No here is my reasoning for this.  Zednik, Rivet and sometimes Souray wore the A's in Montreal.  Lately, it has been Kovalev and Rivet wearing them.  It looks as if Zeds and Souray have been stripped of thier A's and Kovalev has been promoted to full time assistant.  Plus he is the Captian of the Russian national team.  Not sure if anyone else noticed this, but it has been going on since AK's return

It is not a matter of honor And-O. It is a matter of CJ beating the living crap out of me when he sees me. Don;t let that cabbage patch look fool ya..Jules can throw 'em.

Undeniably there is a major problem in the dressing room. Over the past 5 years or so, on Koviu's watch as captain of the team, the Canadiens have gone long periods of time being out shot and out worked in games. To a degree the captain is responsible for leadership and setting the tone for a united team effort which comes out of the dressing room on to the ice. So to an extent Koviu must bear some responsibility. Having said that, is it Koviu's responsibility to get Theodore to OCCASIONALLY STOP A PUCK! Weak goaltending is the biggest reason this season is going down the tubes. Where was the criticism of Koviu a couple of years back when he fought his way back from cancer and gave an inspired playoff performance, with many of the players saying they gained inspiration from his performance?

Just as there has been criticism levelled at Koviu for lack of leadership, one has to ask why he decided to only sign a one year deal with the team this year. He will not resign with the club next year, and yes the team will have 3.5 million salary to work with in the cap structure. Great. Who is Gainey going to sign to replace him? If you think the likes of free agents Arnott, Jokinen,Briere will even consider coming to this disfunctional team think again!

The great leaders of past teams that many people have talked about, Messier,Muller,Gretzky all had a much stronger supporting cast to work with. Koviu's record as captain is not perfect, but to lay the majority of what ails this team at his feet I think is not totally accurate.

Saku is the man. Souray is not the leader we want. Yes he can drop the gloves and get a bad penalty. He can forget the puck behind the net causing a goal. Lead the team, I don't think so. Rivet, at least he can fight and not cost the team... He's good as an 'A', no more, no less.

Until someone steps in and shows why they should be leader, Saku remains the 'C' out there.

Now stop your constant whining unless you would like some cheese to go along with it:

With your help buddy. I thought we had to link a url or something more complicated. Little did I know a copy and paste was all that was required.

OK I get it, the concensus is that Saks has been captain for too long and it is time to let someone else take the helm.

I am 100% postive that Kovy isn't the man for the job. I don't think the guy would inspire anyone.  Here is a guy who can't even inspire himself most of the time.

Rivet wears an A and Souray has before, so it's not like they don't take on any of the "leadership" burden.  I can't see transfering the C doing anything.  Any comments on that?

Honestly, it's hard to say who else might be a good captain. Put it to a team vote. Open vote, of course, so you can see who the factions are. I think Rivet is the best leader there, but he seems very quiet. We need a pulpit-beating, foaming-at-the-mouth kinda guy. Rivet is a great "A". So would Markov because of his tireless efforts.

(Maybe And-o can wear the "C"..."C" for cantankerous!!)

And would And-o assign the "C" to his hero Radical Bonkers?

He must be great in the dressing room, or else why would anyone want to keep him on the team at all?
