Let's get some of the positives going.  How about this kid?  2 goals in his first game back after such a long layoff?  And from what I hear, he was a buzzsaw all night.  There has to be a good solid building block to this team.  We have a great bunch of young guns, including Ryder, Kastistyn, Perezhogin and Higgins even.  But Plekanec might be the best of this gang.  What observations did you all have on his play?  I was stuck at work and only caught 10-12 mins on the radio on the drive in.

EASILY our best player tonight...what does that say about our team??   As a matter of fact the fourth line was EASILY our best line too.

 Again another Savard draft pick! Will he ever get credit for starting the Habs on the right track that Gainey is derailing?

I agree with you there..the ONLY line who showed any energy tonite. I really like what Downy brought to the team. I saw guys actually getting rid of the puck early when they saw him coming. That is something that has been missing. But can someone tell me where our TOP Line is? What happened to this line that was the only real offensive threat we had way back when? Non existent and non factors. Kovalev is resting for the Olympics and Zednick is still back in Montreal doing the same.

i said it in my last Koivu post...Plekanecs should be our first line center. He brings a ton of creativity and speed to our line up, doing things Koivu is afraid to try! I know you guys might disagree with me but here is a list of players we should be getting rid of;

Sundstrom- i dont even know how he plays in the NHL

Zednik- He has no individual skill, but to try and skate around Dman EVERYTIME. it gets old and D's pick up on that, something called video tape.

Dandenault- has brought no positive to the team. I d much rather Brisebois than this guy. All he does is get untimely penalties.

Ribeiro- He is sundstrom in his younger Days. Soft as a wet paper, does not play Defence well(even though he seems to be trying lately) does not know what to do with the puck once in opponents Zone.

Theodore- This guy needs a new place....His carrer will be over if he stays here. Get Jiguere or Luongo in Montreal ASAP and you will see a big turn around.

Streit-Komisarek- We need soemthing a little more aware and experienced in the back. Those two have had plenty of chances to shine and it looks like their Time has arrived to go.

This is only my opinion

Just an observation, but don't you think that other teams generally pot a lot of goals on us in about a 10' radius of the goal?  I think the defense needs a massive revamping.  Our defenseman are soft and don't clear the puck or bodies out of the net.  Watch the Habs when they try to bang a goal in on Esche or Hasek - they won't even get close. The future on offense looks somewhat bright with few good rookies, but there are NO prospects on the blueline.

True that Savard deserves a lot of credit for his solidly above average drafting.
I wasn't so positive about him as GM though.
