Atlantic Canada has always been Liberal dominated and the fact it looks like they are goiing to lose 3 seats is not surpising. I look for Bush...errr Harper, to gain strength as the polls go west.

As of right now it appears Harper will be the PM in a minority Govt. You also have the first ever green party candidate who has won. The NDP and Conservatives have taken more seats on Ontario of all places. Thats just my message from south of the border. Mansbridge is on live on CSpan  I love the politics of Canada. Now I hope Mr Harper remembers me when I send him another letter. He sent me a nice response once. Whatever your political views and believe me I am not in any position to preach to anyone, but tere is something to be said for democracy in action Right???

I'm so happy to see that Harper has won. Only a minority, but still a good thing. With the Liberals as the opposition now, it will hopefully eliminate all of their corruption. Frankly, Canada needed a change badly, and the Conservative party was in my opinion the best choice.

It's still a very small minority, so it will be hard for Harper to do what he wants to. But I still see this as a HUGE improvement over our last government.

Have to agree with you Jedah.  This is a huge improvement over our last government but what bothers me is we have had a corrupt Liberal government for the past 13 years and they still elect 103 tonight.  How corrupt do you have to be before the voters kick this party to smithereens.  This "Its better the Devil you know than the Devil you don't know" statement is pathetic to say the least.  I guess those that voted Liberal agree with the corruption and sleeze that we have been faced with.  This is a sports board so its time to move on.

Call it the political apathy of the youth, but I couldn't care less who's in power.

Politicians will disagree, scandals will break out, the economy will rise and fall then rise again, U2 will release another ****ty album and Bono will become even more pretentious, the Habs will lose more dignity, and the world will continue turning, no matter who's sitting where in the House of Commons.

We've put in place an institution that pretty much runs itself. That being said, I still voted out of respect for those who fought for this right. I can only hope that voting doesn't become such a chore and that political apathy is erradicated from the current political climate in Canada.

The Cons won't be able to take a piss without an OK from the Liberals! Actually this could be a good thing..like union safety meetings "nobody moves, nobody gets hurt" The less power they have, maybe the less damage to the country!

Murphy- I don';t think it is a matter of people accepting the corruption if the Liberals as much as it is the fact that we know ALL politicians are corrupt. Funny but Harper never once mentioned Mulroney who, in my humble opinion, was on eof the most crooked PM's in our history (and NO I am NOT a liberal lol). Do you ever ask yourself why these guys leave succesful law and medical practices for politics? Do you think it is for the 85,000 a year MP salary? Uhmmmmm...no.

Okay, the last ****ty album U2 put out was POP.  That disc chewed.  The ones since then have been awesome.  Gotta go.

Sorry, david, the Greens did not elect anyone.  There was one Independent who won (a radio host from Quebec); maybe that's who you're thinking of.

I voted Green yesterday, since I couldn't see myself voting for any of the mainstream parties.  Today, with the Habs playing kike they are, I'm feeling Blue..................

Nil, I noticed there was a Marxist on the ballot in Halifax when I voted, I had heard nothing about this, it really surprised me.

You know, I was in and outta there so fast, I never even noticed!  Oh well, another four years (likely less!) of Alexa being "shocked and appalled"...................

The shock jock was the Independent member, not Green Party.  There was no Green Perty winner anywhere.
