The REAL problem in Habland (this one is for Cleg)!

A total lack of...and total disrespect for...overall team toughness!!!

This creampuff over gravy & grits philosophy has cost us on virtually every level for at least 10 years now.

Just think of all the "scorers" who came to Montreal and suddenly lost their offensive capabilities!  Think of how many times teams simply out hit and out muscle the Habs.

Then...to make things worse...we burn through perfectly decent guys who are willing to pay the price and punch for the Habs!!!

Let's see...Dwyer, Odjick, Morissette, Ivanians (sp?)!!!  Who else???

...And-o kinda feels sorry for Downey, since he will undoubtedly have a positive impact for a few games before either getting relegated to the pressbox...or hurt from standing up for the smurfs!

...we need team toughness...one or two guys who can handle the rough stuff on EVERY line.

Where are the Shanahan's...the Ryan Smyth...Tucker...Peca...etc...???

What did the habs get for Tucker? By the way...I think Tucker lives in a mushroom as well And-o. But he is pretty tough for a little guy.

Too bad you're not running for office tonight And-o me boy - that's the best speech I've heard the whole campaign!

Good stuff And-o! Our smurfs always out numbered our bigger tougher players! No chemistry!

Good point, And-o. Same one you've been stating for a while, but still good point. Like really, how'd we get to this point? That trade in '95 really that bad that we still suffer 10 yrs later?

Good point man. I just wonder how available the Ryan Smyth's, Peca's etc. really are in this league. The Habs are not the only ones without those type of guys.... but right now the are the only ones getting embarrassed on a nightly basis.

So I am thinking that this can't be our only problem.

LOL! But your other point about the horrible trade smacks down the middle of one of our many problems, the tendency to make excuses or comparisons based on the past. It's all we do these days. Oh, he's not as good as (fill in blank), or that trade in '73 was our downfall...

Time to redesign a habs for the 21st century, one that is as flexible and tough as space-age polymer!

And mdmrules has a great point - where do you get these guys from? Too many teams, not enough toughness. Combined with the new rules, and you have a wierd limbo between brain and brawn that satisfies neither...

I pray for the day that a 16 team NHL with a 60 game schedule allows for the concentration to make the game tough, and enough time between games to let the players keep playing it...

oh, good point and-o
