Sundin and the Leafs
Permalink Closed

As much as I hate Mats Sundin and the Toronto Maple Leafs, I have to commend him for his comments on TSN last night. The team is mirred in a 3 game slump and, like this board when things are going badly, the Leafs fans are getting restless calling for everything from a coaching change to major trades. This is what Sundin had to say to that:

"No one is gonna come in here on a white horse and save us. Each and everyone of us in this room needs to have a look in the mirror to find the solution. In the end it is the players who are responsible to get the job done and we are not doing it."

Boy, what a novel approach!! A player and captain actually calling out his teamates to take ownership of their play!! Radical man!!

Personally, I feel Pat Quinn is a very good coach or he would not be coaching Team Canada. Change the coach in Toronto if you like boys. The fact is that Ferguson has done a poor job managing the cap and he does not have the space to make a trade if he wanted to.

Actually Barry33...JFJ inherited his salary cap woes from the previous regime in Hogtown!

...And-o thinks that JFJ did an admirable job of landing the UFA's he did last summer, especially given that he only had something like $9 million to sign 10 players (not certain of the exact figures...but it had to be coupon day in Toronto)!

Sundin is just plain over-payed...as is Belfour...but the highest example of overpaid in Toronto is Tie Domi (who gets about 4 times what he is actually worth on the open market)!

And-o firmly believes though that if Toronto makes the playoffs this season...Pat Quinn...YES PAT QUINN...should be a candidate for coach of the year!

But does And-O think that Sundin showed some leadership with his comments?
