Gotta agree with you there. Remember last season when he got kicked out of a game for not tying his fighting strap down. C'mon, you are in the NHL, not the minors.

Because I don't think he went into the game looking for a fight. Like his first one this year. I think some board members just like picking on the Habs. Aren't we supposed to be on their side? Anyway, the NHL made the right call by not suspending him.

No he didn't but he should know the rules. I think it's great that he can stick up for himself but he had a chance to turn away and didn't. Like I said I think he's turning the corner but he did this before with the fighting strap....

As I said John I realize he could have turned away. But in spite of the loss, I am glad he did not. These things will help the team. Had teh team rallied around that last night and won the game, we would be singing his praises. But we did not so he is in the doghouse. Done now. By Gaineys comments I am sure he heard it much more from his coach. If I am the coach, I am sitting on teh fence. On the one hand, I am pi**ed that he got kicked out and we lost. On the other hand, I am glad that the team is starting to stand up for each other. I am of teh second school. We are taking baby steps here and hopefully that fight was one of them. But for Cheese sake Bobby, get an enforcer in the lineup already!!! Anyone who saw who the 'nucks ran over Crosby roughshod last week does not want them doing that to Saks Sat night?

I think Laraque could be had for a draft pick. I think we should try to invest in him.

souray did not enter last night's game looking for a fight..... in fact, there are many times where he gets challenged but avoids the fight... and there's only so many times this can happen before he loses his credibility.   McCarty forced the issue, and Souray finally let him have it..... and I'm glad McCarty left a bloody mess, next time someone tries messing with souray they'll remember that he has a brace on his wrist and he's not afraid to wreck your face with it.  only good can come of this.......

Match penalties such as Souray's rarely come with a suspension, the thought of him being suspended never crossed my mind

wasnt it you or someone else pissed the last time we played ottawa  that sourey didnt fight neil  . i guess hes dammed if he does and dammed if he doesnt . like barry said it was worth it . soure should ask the league what he can wear to protect his wrist and still fight because he'll be a target now .

If the fight was gonna happen, then it should've been Rivet. When Souray and McCarty were shoving, Rivet bumped McCarty and then ran away. He should have taken Souray's place.

EXACTLY!!!!!! Souray had no choice but to pound him! Who else is going to lead this way until Gainey fills that need!
