Maybe the biggest problem this season, and for the last decade...too much inconsistency.
The players who seem to be picking it up now were a joke for long stretches:
Ribeiro, Bonk, Souray, even Streit is picking it up, Bulis (although he was ok in the first quarter of the season, just not scoring)
The players who are just always streaky:
Zednik, Kovalev, Theodore, Ryder
Plekanec and Perezhogin both seem fairly streaky also, at least from the small amount I've seen them.
And it's true that Rivet, Komisarek, Bouillon, Begin, Sundstrom and Dandenault don't look as good now as they did early on. Not that they are in a slump, but they seem a tiny bit slower, a tiny bit less precise.
It's also true that Koivu is not at his best right now, although I'd say the criticisms are WAY exaggerated.
So who are our consistent players?
I have to say Higgins has been one of our most consistent all season. He always looks motivated, he's improved steadily, he skates, he checks, he even chips in offensively.
After that I'd go with Markov and Koivu. Both of them try to do too much, but that's partly related to the way the team has been playing at certain points. On a team that was functioning with some consistency and with less injuries, these guys would be near all-stars, especially Markov.
i dont know about you but i think streit is horrible in his own end , he has no strength on the boards and i dont think he has hit anyone all year . he has a little offence but i dont feel hes helping right now , i would rather have komo on the ice and give up the little striet o for the big body in our own end .
