RDS 3 Star Selections...

Koivu...yes Koivu...received the 3rd star selection last evening in Calgary from RDS!

Did they even watch the game?

...the guy was just plain flat and disinterested.

Goal and an assist out of 2 goals. Hmmm. If that was flat then I hope the rest of the team is flat for tomorrow nights game.

I know I'm repeating JohnM's post, again. 2 points on both Habs goals, and much better work in his own end than Ribeiro could muster up I'm sure.

This is just getting perverse, And-o.

Koivs may have had 2 points, but he wasn't really a factor last night.  I would have thrown Theo a selection last night.  He held them in there and looked pretty steady.

If you didn't see the selection in Calgary, it was:

J. Iginla
Flames - RW

Goals: 2
Assists: 0

D. Langkow
Flames - C

Goals: 1
Assists: 0

D. Phaneuf
Flames - D

Goals: 0
Assists: 1

The game was over by that time. If you lose 3-2 and you have a goal and assist you were pretty much the only contributor on the night. Where was the rest of the team for the rest of the game. You shouldn't wait until 35 seconds left to try and tie it up. Stop with the harping and let's move on.

Right on, John!  I don't know what the And-o's of the world want.  They're embarassing themselves with all this anti-Koivu talk.

the game was over??? Tell that to Koivu when he was playing his heart out against Florida, to win it with less than 5 seconds before a shootout, tell that to ryder's season opener against Boston, with 12 seconds left. Game was nowhere near over, just a big time giveaway that elapsed 35 precious seconds

Good post as I seen the give away also! Why he couldn't carry it to the blue line is beyond me as there was no one on him! A shoot in would of helped if not make their goalie freeze it for a whistle and time out! I quess he was too tired to skate a few feet!

Can't pin the game on one play with 2 minutes left! Habs had 11 shots after 2 periods.
They spent the whole game losing -- it wasn't just one crummy pass attempt at the end.

All the anti-Koivu talk is pure garbage. What the heck is up with you guys?( And-o and AB specifically). Even if you don't feel Koivu has provided the "service" you think he should have.In Light of his dedication, being a habs top scorer, constant hard work etc....Any real fan would just appreciate the skill level and work ethic and stop yappin'. It's shameful.

Muller...your first post without bashing Ribs!! Good to see!

The difference is we don't hate Saks..just think he would fit a lesser role better! Also if you reread all posts..this is about the Calgary game specifically!

Difference is I don't pull any punches. Not in your case REALLY AB, but for And-o, who generally yabber's on and on. We can read between the lines I think. He may not hate Saks, but something about him being Captain does...which is the underlying theme through smoke and mirrors.

In fact I have agreed with both of you guys. I think Koivu would be more effective given some talent to either back him up, or play on the first line. Then he could thrive as a second line center OR perhaps as first line center, whatever.

Koivu would make an excellent second line centre -- provided that the Habs had strength up the middle on the first line.

By the way, a friend and I were discussing salaries and whether it worth it to the Habs to spend $3.5 million +/- $500K to have a second line centre like Koivu. Any thoughts? Other than the Senators whose players seem to be underpaid for the most part, how much does a strong second line centre go for (ignoring the loss of cap space in other areas)?
