In a Carbonneau kinda way. Just a feeling with those three(carbo, gainey, Jarvis), Bonk will be given direction. I think he will prove Gainey right...

I don't know how many points Bonk had last night but it was his best in a Hab uniform.  Way to rebound from your worst game.

Gee, I hope you're right, but from here it seems like a stretch.  Remember that Carbonneau, as good as he was defensively (perhaps the best ever), he still consistently produced 20-25 goals a year.  That was Bonk's best offensive output (once or twice at best), and he's not on the same planet defensively.

Still, I hope you're proven right.........

Just a feeling...you are spot-on!

Radek Bonk & "Crystal-Ball Who,eh" for Matty Garon is/was/will be remembered as a good trade for the Canadiens!

...it will bridge the gap (and buy the time necessary) for Bob to land us (or develop us) a legitimate #1 centreman...because the Habs do not have one right now!

I will say that those on this board lamenting about the Habs not being freewheeling and playing firewagon brand hockey should NOT look for a change to that now. I can tell you that gainey was probably pulling his hair out (what he has left) last night over the lack of defence being played. The system that Julien employed while he was there was developed by Bob Gainey. Don't forget two things:

1) You now have 3 coaches that did not have an offensive bone in their body when they played

2) Gainey loves the trap and a defence first approach.

Good call. And he's got 4 points in his last 5 games.

Bonk is no more than a 2nd or 3rd line center when he's at his best. He has done nothing to prove otherwise so far. Pierre Mcguire has stated that Bonk is useless in the new NHL and even though some of you dispise him, he does know hockey.

He doesn't have the speed to be a true asset on this team. He reminds me of an oversized Juneau in his last days.

JohnM. You may be right. But Carbo was a third liner really. That is what I was saying.

It's weird, I just have a feeling he may show something soon. But another part of me also see's that oversized Juneau thing( which cracked me up by the way).

I hope that all players wearing a Habs uniform can do well. Last year I was super pumped when Souray went on a scoring spree and Ryder was tearing it up for the rookies. I love when Habs actually make it on TSN for good things and not bad. So, if Bonk can turn his useless first half around then please, please, please make it happen. We need a big body who can score some goals and watch other teams first lines. That's what BG brought him here for.
