P.S. I should explain that "The Three Amigo" theory was in reference to the idea shared by most here (including me) that Ribs, Dags & Theo were pretty much conspiring to lead one distinct portion of the Habs dressing room!
I wonder if Gainey was trying to say that if those are the three guys that he wants to build a team around...then now is the time to show him they are capable of this.
I just can't see either Markov or Souray being locker room toxins. I just wonder if the three amigo's theory( Theo, Ribs Dags) still exists, just that Gainey was calling on those other three to get it in gear...although Markov has been consistent all year hasn't he??

Gainey wasn't talking about the three amigos. Andy must have been drinking during the press conference. He was calling out 3 specific players, saying they need to bring more to the table. With Theo it is obvious and Souray to a degree. As one of the RDS commentators put it, BG knows that Markov is playing well but thinks he can play much better and that's why he called him out. A coach needs to get the best out of his players and that's what BG's trying to do. I'm sure he could have named many more but then it would be for not...

Demers' reference to Markov was that he was not playing as well lately as earlier in the season, and in particular at home, where he had not scored since mid-November. Whether that was Gainey's point or not, I don't know.
As far as toxicity is concerned, I can't see how a guy with such limited language skills as Markov could be much of a sh-- disturber in the dressing room, unless he and other Russians were some sort of clique, which would be divisive to the team.
