I am really split at this time. First and foremost, as a habs fan, I am pleased with the result and the effort. I want to see us succeed and it is nice to see us get a much needed 2 points. On the other hand, it simply nauseates and sickens me to see this sudden burst of effort. Every (and I mean each and EVERY player from Theo to Koivu) need to look in the mirror and feel total and utter shame and disgust with what they see. They had a coach who took the heat for them, went to battle with the media, made excuses for them. And they reward him like this. All of a sudden the boss is behind the bench and it is like "ohhhh..I guess we better try now?" Simply and utterly pathetic and sad to be honest. And please do not give me the "you are Julien's friend" bit. It is the harsh truth and it is enough to make you vomit. Where was Markov and all of these guys the last few months?!???? And please do not, at this stage, suggest that it was a different coaching strategy that made the difference. It was one game without even a practice to show the guys a new system. What this win was about was effort, PLAIN AND SIMPLE. And the fact that it took a good coach to lose his job to produce it is purely indicative of what is wrong in pro sports today. A bunch of vastly overpaid and spoiled athletes are allowed to dictate who they will make or not make an effort to. And that, my friends, is pathetic.

But these bursts of energy only mean something if they're sustained over a few games and then remain in the form of an elevated level of play for the rest of the season. If this one is like all the others I've seen, look for the situation to go back to normal sometime before the olympic break.

I've seen it before, I'll see it again... and chemistry don't lie!

Barry, and i mean this with all due respect seeing as i am pretty new here, but i just have a few questions and comments for you.

Does this really surprise you? This sudden burst of effort from everyone? You remind us daily of your close personal ties with CJ. You tell us how you know things but cannot say what it is exactly what those things are. You know better than all of us posters and readers what really is going on in that dressing room. Was there really no indication, absolutely no hint that these players disliked/couldn't respond to the CJ system in the Habs dressing room?

Don't get me wrong. I think CJ is a fantastic coach and as you've mentioned in other posts, he will definitely not have trouble finding another NHL coaching job, and i wish him all the best.

You mention also how Gainey refused to shake up the team with trades and such before firing the coach and now that CJ is gone, our GM will suddenly make moves out of the blue... But is it not true that not too many players on our team were valuable to other teams? How could a move have been done that would be beneficial to the Canadiens? I believe this is the only thing that could have been done. Its sad that CJ had to suffer the consequences and i wish things were different. But i still think this is the right thing, the only thing that could have been done that would ultimately be better for the Canadiens as a whole.

Again, i write this with respect for you Barry and all others that participate here.
