CJ's time as a coach were numbered the year that Gainey became GM at the time. Gainey never wanted CJ as the coach and was going to let him go before the last full season of hockey. This was always known. I have no problems with CJ he is a class act and stuck up for his players - this is a political move for BG.
Its also unfortunate but maybe a lot of Habs do not have respect for CJ and don't want to play for him. Maybe now with BG in the room they will show some effort and with Carbs as the head coach we all know what type of leader he was. This move was all about spoiled players who didn't respect their coach.
Ironic I just watched the movie Coach Carter(great sports movie) last night - I think all the Habs players should watch that movie to give them a wake up call. They will learn to work hard, respect their coach and winning games will follow suit.
I think I can speak for all the members on this board that we don't care about winning games as long as the team shows drive, determination and passion to play.
Just my 2 cents. Thanks CJ for all the good times.

Exactly how have you known this, flowerpower? I'm not disputing it; just curious as to your source(s).

flowerpower is probably referring to the fact that most GM's want to have their own guy in there, not someone elses. I'm not saying this was BG's plan from day one, just that it's usually the case.

Hey- It is identical to the Rejean Houle/Mario Tremblay thing. Deja Vu all over again. Now Gainey will finally make the neccesary moves to make the Habs a contender. Unfortunately for all the wrong reasons (ie to protect Carbonneau and to protect his own rear). Whatever. As a habs fan I do notr care about motives, just results.
