A thought about rumours

I know they're fun, but sometimes rumours, when your team is performing as poorly as we are, remind me of sitting in a bar, half glazed, thinking the cute girl on the other side of the room has been checking me out for the last hour, when in fact it's the rerun of "Good Times" on the TV behind me that has had her attention all along.

Oh, I heard from a really reliable source that....

...but didn't you at least get a little excited when you thought she was looking at you?


Rumours are great because some of them are true.  Most of the time they're not, but sometimes they are.  And this one isn't new, it's been floating around for the past 10 days.

I wasn't meaning yours in particular, it's just hard getting excited then let down, sort of like a certain season I can think of...
