Yep, happy I didn't get too excited over the habs performance in Ottawa .....

1st period vs Avs just complete, habs outworked, outplayed, outmuscled and out chanced. Only bright spot is Huet looks sharp.

Ribs and Kovi both look like they're sleep walking. Ditto Bonk and Zed.

Koivu is tryin hard ... he looks out of place. Neith Ryder nor Higgins seem to be able keep up with him.

I predict a 2-0 Av's victory (maybe 3-0 is there's an empty netter)

Hate to say it, but habs were never in this one anyway (great play by Huet kept it close, bit in the end the habs showed their true colors.

Ribeiro = invisible

Zed = slump

Kovi = asleep (notive his moves the last 2 minutes .... where were they the previous 58 minutes?)

Bonk = bone head (again) bad penalty and then an even worse careless pass

Dandy = another bonehead, bad penalty killed any momentum the habs had worked up

too bad, a wasted effort on the part of Huet. Koivu and Bulis were the only forwards with any intensity.

Glad you mentioned that bonehead penalty by Dandenault.  Completely pointless and unnecessary, not even in the play, and even thought they killed the penalty, they had no gas left in the tank afterwards.  That and the Bonk boner cost us two points.

Something about Dandy's penalty seemed familiar to me, so I went back to the game thread from Dec 31 habs vs 'canes, and gues what .....

yep ... Dandy took a bone headed penalty in the 3rd period (habs were up by a goal at that point), and 'canes scored to tie, and went on to win in regulation.

This repeated kind of stupid and selfish play is not what you'd expect from a player who was groomed in Detroit by Scotty Bowman. Dandy has been a big disappointment. As far as I'm concerned, Gainey has screwed the pooch on two deals ... Bonk/Garon and losing Brisebois in exchange for Dandy (no way Brisebois takes a stupid penalty like Dandy did tonight, Breezer it too soft for the rough stuff.)

I notice that no one has mentioned the injury to Souray.  This is serious.  It still puzzles me why Julien does not play Komo.  They go to the Mile High city where it is hard to play at the best of times with a shortened bench.  Think he would play all his players to give everyone a longer rest and be involved in the event of an injury.  Habs played  good 2nd and 3rd periods and deserved at least a point tonight.  Hopefully Huet continues his great goaltending.

 Komo needs some farm time to get some confidence and learn the new rules and game!

 Playing every fourth game won't help him at all. He is too young with too much potential to be a bench warmer!
