I was a little surprised to see Heuy back in net vs. COL. But, I think it is a smart, if not gutsy move. My Cristobal says he'll do just fine. If we get the same effort as vs OTT, we should pull this one off.
But my Cristobal doesn't tell me why this is - why not Theo? Is it just to send a message? Are we going to ride the hot goalie (habgirl, please keep your mind from the gutter)? Or are we keeping Theo out because he really might be traded?
I say we got with the goalie with the hot hand. If Huet loses, then we go back to Theo, if Huet wins, that means somewhere we must have something we can trade.

Julien is in a no win situation here, especially on this board. If he plays Theo tonite and Theo sucks, we all ask why not Huet? And if he plays Huet and Huet sucks then why not Theo? Methinks Claude is playing a bit of cover thine own a$$ and is going with the safe bet. Having said that, he has no choice but to go back with Theo even if Huet stands on his head tonite. Why you asK? I am glad you did! Because for 2 reasons. 1) If Gainey is trying to move Theo, it gets tough to do with him opening the bench door on a nightly basis -OR- 2) If Gainey plans on keeping him, he cannot afford to have his biggest salary cap eater on the bench.
So keep those 2 points in mind while hollering at the coach everyone. He is in a no win situation.

This may help clear things up. It is from theMontreal Gazette and Spector's Site:
MONTREAL GAZETTE: Herb Zurkowsky reports Canadiens GM Bob Gainey has accompanied his club to Denver for tonight's game against the Colorado Avalanche, and brought along "Julien Brisebois, the director of hockey operations and legal affairs. Brisebois oversees contracts and is the team's salary-cap expert." While Jose Theodore has been the subject of trade rumours, Zurkowsky notes he won't be playing against the Avs tonight, but centre Mike Ribeiro, who has also been mentioned in the rumour mill, will play tonight on Alex Kovalev's line.
Spector's Note: Something may indeed be brewing here. It's one thing for Gainey to accompany his team but another for him to bring his salary cap expert along. I still don't believe Gainey will move Theodore unless he can get a good goalie in return, and think Ribeiro might be the most likely to get peddled. Time will tell but it seems at this point Gainey may be on the verge of pulling the trigger.
I Dont undertand Zulrath, are you saying that if Huet wins this game, he is our number 1 goalie? And that then we can afford to trade theo away? Have you already forgotten the 4 game losing streak we had with him in net while theo was out? Huet is the hot hand, and that is why he is playing. If he wins tonight, great...let him play until he loses...and eventually Theo will see if he wants to play, he has to win...either way its a plus. We win and theo gets tired of not playing and plays better when he gets his next chance. For theo's sake and the team, i hope huet goes 3-4 straight games earning us points in all of them...3-0-1 sorta of thing. or even better 4-0-0 Just turn this team around....at this point and time ill takes W's any way they come...
