From what I understand, Dagenais was placed on waivers and there were no takers, so he was sent down. Personally, I like him, but this was the right move. I would prefer to see guys like Kostitsyn get the ice time instead.

I suggest that a move involving Ribs is not far behind. Like the old song goes, "They are breaking up that old gang of mine".

Could it be that Gainey is finally going to move a player or two? Ribs would be at the top of my list to be traded, but that's too likely, and Gainey's trades are always the most unlikely thing that could ever happen.
A translation: (there's something a little Smeagol about the way it sounds)
Tuesday January 10, 2006 - (RDS.ca) -
Pierre Dagenais was yielded to Bulldogs of Hamilton in the American League of hockey. The large attacker, which marked five goals and obtained seven master keys in 32 parts, had been placed at the ballot by the Canadian and it was not claimed.
This season, it did not answer waitings of the trainer Claude Julien, who left it side during last matches. In 142 parts in career, Dagenais marked 35 goals and piled up 23 master keys with Panthers of Florida, Devils of the New Jersey and the Canadian.
It knew its best season in 2003-04 with the Canadian whereas it touched the target 17 times and piled up ten master keys in 50 parts.
Dagenais was fished out twice by Devils in 1996 and 1998. The Canadian had obtained his services while making him sign a contract by way of autonomous player in July 2003.
I was reading some of the comments that people made on the RDS site to this and a comment there kind of hit me.
My french isn't that greatest, so does that bolded statement say what I think it does?

I very hold of a source close to the team that these two players would have been surprised making coke in their hotel room at the time of the last voyage abroad?

So basically, Dagenais did not obtain nearly enough master keys or touch the target enough times for us to keep him around, so we fished him out, but nobody took the bait.

Close! Although his collection of master keys was not adequate, we placed him on the ballot so that other teams could vote for him to be their new front desk person (marking goals, collecting master keys, etc.)
To explain the terminology a little better, when one wishes to mark goals and collect master keys they must enter the NHL, in order to get into this place, one must be fished out of the "pool". Daganais was apparently fished teice by Devils of New Jersey.
(I appologize for this, looking for reason to avoid class)

what the bolded statement says....which i find a little hard to believe... is that this guy has a source really close to the habs who told him that these two players were surprised in their hotel room by someone who caught them doing coke during their last games away from montreal.

OK......I don't know about the coke rumour but this rumour is not a rumour it's fact. Theo was BADLY hungover recently and went out for morning practice and fell on his ass when he hit the ice because he forgot his skate guards on. It is well known throughout the league that Ribs and Theo playboy around nightly......it certainly is affecting their play....you think!?! Don't be surprised to see these jokers out quick!
It should be no surprise that Dagenais has been sent down - He did not make the grade in New Jersey (First Rounder I think) or Florida as well it's just his potential that's keeping him up to now in the NHL - A big guy with an excellent shot and not much else and with the lack of goal scoring by the Habs in recent years it should be no surprise they took a chance on him and like the other two teams they found out Dagenais is too one dimensional along with his other stuff with Riberio. A few more teams he'll catch up to Kilger - are the Leafs watching/listening........

One of the biggest complaints I have heard on this board and from fans in general is that Montreal has a habit of giving up on players too early. I can safely say that they gave Dagenais MORE than enough chances.

You guys have this translation all wrong. What it actually says is:
Pierre Dagenais was caught yielding to a bulldog in a Hamilton hotel room while playing an American brand of hockey. The large attacker, whose mother was a bitch, had markings shaped like goals and a chain around its neck comprised of seven master keys. Dagenais was injured in 32 places and was offered a bullet by the Canadiens but declined to claim it.
Dog trainer Claude Julien never left his side.
Like a dog, Dagenais is fond of lifting his leg and marking his goals, 35 of them, and of making dog-piles out of master keys, 23 of them. He specialized in Panther poo, Devil doo and Canadian caca.
Several times, Dagenais fell through the ice and was fished out twice by the Devil in 1996 and 1998. Canadians obtained his services and made him sign a contract to be an anonymous player in July 2003.

If you had seen some of CJ's girlfriends a few years back you would not laugh at the "dog trainer" referance. The man has experience trust me on that one

Who cares who doies what on their own time? Of course, I'm a Cowboys fan, but seriously. I'm betting that there are very few on this board who don't drink regularly, and even fewer who haven't tried the odd toke or snort.
And seriously, to think it's a rare occurecne amongst NHL players is naive. These guys PARTY. If the problem becomes Fleury-esque, and affects on-ice production, then its time to take a look at it, but if a guy is out with a buddy having a good time, and there is no game the next day, it's nobody's business, and no big deal..My boss has no right to know what I do away from the office, so long as I show up when I say I will and produce.
