Bob Gainey announced today that he signed defensmen Andre Benoit to a three year deal. Andre is having a breakout season in Hamilton he spent four years previous on the Kitchner Rangers. Last year he led all defensmen in points and has the record for the all time single season point record for a defensmen in Kitchner. Could this mean Bob's moving a defensmen?

Boy I hope this is only the beginning, although it seems that this is simply adding a bit of depth.

It sure would be nice to add one solid defensive horse without losing anything substantial from the roster or the future!

And-o you got it bang on, this signing is strictly a depth signing. This guy wont be coming to the habs and he wont be replacing one in a trade or anything. If the guy continues to play well, maybe one year he'll be a hab, BUT The last thing we need to it trade away another player ( regular ) and replace him with a AHL caliber player. To IMPROVE this team we must trade one of our regulars for a better regular, without losing any of our key players.

But he's already played 39 games in Hamilton.  We haven't "added" anything, just signed one of our own to a long-term deal.  He seems promising, but let's not get too excited; he's already in the system.

Good one, Brookie!

I once knew a woman named Renata Vink (really).  A colleague of mine said one day "My pen won't write anymore.  It Renata Vink."   (Say it out loud a few times.)

I think the ghost of Benny Hill has invaded the board, either him, or Ivor Biggun (friend of B. Bain)
