I watched some of the home and home with Atlanta and the Pens. Even the announcers said Crosby needs to stop whining. I think he is one hell of a talented player, but he needs to tone it down. Even yesterday he was called for diving. Then he made a gesture and was called for another penalty. The Pens lost both games to the red hot Thrashers. They compared Crosby to Gretsky when it comes to whining. I have seen the great one whine behind the bench, but was he a whiner as a player too??????

I pointed out after the Habs/Pens game (like the head snapping back when a stik goes ner it) that I felt that Syd needed to show a bit more restraint on the acting because what is going to happen is that the refs will start looking the other way when he actually does get hit. And I think you saw a bit of that in the Thrashers games. Having said that, I did not like what Kovalchyk did with the finger pointing after he scored. There is an unwritten code and a line you do not cross and he crossed it.
But let us not forget Crosby is only 18. If he acts immature out there at times it is because he IS immature lol. His age would indicate that. He will be fine. He does take alot of abuse out there, way more so then Gretzky ever did. Why? Because of the stupid instigator rule. No one dared gave Gretzky the stick because Semenko made you eat it. In Bruce Hood's book (a former ref) he was asked who the biggest whiner was in his whole career. Without hesitation he said Wayne Gretzky. When you are a superstar you are used to getting your own way on AND off the ice and having people bend over backwards for you. When they do not, it upsets you. This is the NHL now Sydney. You are playing with men and there is an adjustment. But you need to stop the diving and acting because I think it takes away from you as a player and person. It is really the only negative I can say about the kid.

Once Syd proves himself at this level for a few years, he won't be labelled a whiner, but rather a fierce competitor. Same as Gretzky.
I think he (Crosby) is finding it rather difficult to adjust right now, because he isn't used to losing. I would think that in every level he has been at, his talent alone would make the team he was on a winner. That just isn't the case in the NHL. I think this is turning into frustration.
And to top it off, they give him the 'A' which may make him feel like he needs to question every call against the Pens.

Crosby would love to be wearin the red, white and blue. He was a habs fan when he was a kid, his father (Troy Crosby) was drafted by the habs back in the day. Definately, watching the draft lottery, he was prayin for the habs to have #1 pick.
