Question????

I saw on the news tonight that during the Russian  USA game, the Vancouver fans kept yelling  USA Sucks. The newscasters doing the story felt it was not the play of the USA team that they were yelling about, but the United States as a whole.   Is  this true???  Not trying to stir up anything  just wondering.

Yes, that is true as far as I know, and as a Canadian who is very pro-American, you can believe I was pissed off about that. Since when did USA become Canada's "enemy"? It seemed like the fans were treating them that way, and as far as I'm concerned, booing any nation, especially one as close to Canada as the United States is completely unacceptable.

I would hope this was just isolated fans, and surely not the general feeling of the entire group.   And I'm sure they simply meant it in hockey terms against the team, not the entire country.  I have travelled in about 25 states over the years and have been treated with nothing but kindness.  We are lucky to have such a great neighbour.  (As are you, I might add.)

I am sure it was in hockey terms. Although the US has not gained any friends in the past 4 years so i am sure some knucle heads were referring to the country.

I worked in the US for three years and found the people absolutely the best. What a great country. I hope the Vancouver fans were only talking hockey.

hey David, i was at the US/Switzerland game and also the US/Russia and for the first game there was no booing.... Not that i agree to it, i hate it but after the J.Johnson hit the attitude changed in Vancouver regarding the US team. People seemed mad, cause they were only booing him at first but it turned out worst as it got going.....

On another note, GO CANADA.... the finale was amasing..... but sorry about the boos, not all Canada it dumb.

I feel like this was a response to that Gutless flying elbow by Jack Johnson on Steve Downie after Canada scored the empty net winner on New Years Eve.

That hit was one of the worst things i've ever seen.  Almost as bad as Hunter on Turgeon in 93.

I'm positive the USA sucks chants were all because of the Jack Johnson incident.  I was at the gold medal game and saw USA players standing around large crowds signing autographs.  I go south at least 3 times a month (gas, cheese, & milk way cheaper) and have the greatest respect for my southern brothers.
