MONTREAL– It is with deep regret that the Montreal Canadiens organization announce the passing of Ken Mosdell, who died at the Lakeshore Hospital in Montreal Thursday morning. He was 83.

Born in Montreal on July 13 1922, Mosdell enjoyed a 16-year NHL career, including 14 seasons with the Canadiens, between 1941 and 1959. He also played for the Brooklyn Americans (1941-42) and the Chicago Blackhawks (1956-57). A defensive forward, Mosdell amassed 141 goals, 168 assists and 309 points in 694 career NHL games.

After joining the Canadiens in 1944, Mosdell went on to record 132 goals, 155 assists and 287 points in 628 games. He set career-highs in both goals and points during his time in Montreal, including 22 goals and 46 points in 67 games in 1953-54, and 22 goals and 54 points in 70 games the following year. He was a first team All-Star in 1953-54 and a second team All-Star the following year. He also played in five consecutive All-Star Games between 1951 and 1955.

Mosdell has his name engraved on the Stanley Cup three times, including 1945-46, 1952-53 and 1955-56. In 80 career playoff games, all with the Canadiens, he recorded 16 goals and 29 points. In 1945-1946, he scored four goals in nine playoff games, as well as, added nine points in 12 games in the spring of 1955.

Funeral arrangements have not been announced.



Kenny Mosdell won three Stanley Cups with the Canadiens over his 14 seasons in Montreal.
