Who agrees that it's Saks last season in a Habs iniform? Being a free agent will land him big money in the off season that Gainey won't want to pay for a part time player! If Saks wanted to be here long term, he would of signed longer term for a little less dough! Gainey won't have a choice but to trade him later this season if they don't come to terms or he can of course use him till his contract runs out then sign another free agent like Kovy!
I for one will miss the little guy with the big heart!
Im with my brother in first names on this one. Saku WILL be back and after writing that post about theo bashers....im on the verge of writing one for saku bashers too. I respect opinions...but not stupidity. If i read something that is way off or just plain...stupid...you'll hear it. And AB that is in no way a bash at you. I like you and i agree with most of what you say, but there have been a few newbies lately who have really made me question what they are saying. Just a word of advice to a few out there. Before you come out and state "facts" be sure you've thought them through...more than once and then also look at it from a different perspective. I know emotions can get the best of us but its better sometimes to not say something and be smart than to say something and sound stupid.

Guys, I appreciate you replying to my posts with alot of emotion and I can understand why as Saks has been a special player. The one thing I don't appreciate is the personal attack of who I like or dislike. John, if you remember right I did historically post about Saks being injured alot and being too small to carry such a big ice load. I also gave him credit when credit was due and that was in the playoffs. He definately rose to the occasion against Boston last season. A big game player will make any one forget about the meaningless games. Johab, that also goes for Theo, as he was huge in the playoffs.
I'll say it again, if I'm right, I will miss Saks! He has been our best player over the long hall of limited talent!
Emotions aside guys, Do you really think Gainey will resign Saks to a long term? I say no. Time will tell and no I can't bet you money John on this site but lets just say that when the time comes and if I'm wrong, I will be the first to post it!

With respect -- and from the perspective of a "newbie" with whom you've probably disagreed -- posters are entitled to different opinions whether they've posted 1, 50, or 500 times. Although the facts speak for themselves, the causes that lead to those facts are subject to debate, whether those causes be on account of Ribs, Saku, CJ, BG, or a little bit of everyone.
I don't think that a post(er) should be criticized for stating that the captain should be around more than just on a part-time basis. It's pretty hard to disagree with that proposition whether it be made with respect to Saku or anyone else.
I, for one, think that it's a team game and that everyone in Habs dressing room should take some responsibility. It's the measure of responsibility that is debated.
Ribs goes before Saku and a decent centreman will come in to alleviate the pressure off Koivu. Just a prediction. Ribs is on a one year contract. Do we really want him back???
Its a tough one. Obviously Ribero is on a one year contract, so you can kiss him goodbye at the end of the season( thank the lord). The question is, does Koivu fit into a 2-3 year plan? Given his age( I think he is 32-34???).
Koivu---one of my all time favorite habs. Right up there with Robinson, Gainey, Carbo and Muller. But I am afraid the next 30 games will give us the answer. If this young team starts to show signs of potential( Perez, Komi, plek, Higgins, especially)they keep Koivu. If they flounder and miss the playoffs, I am afraid they may trade him for some good future prospects.
And it would be all Ribero's fault for sucking so bad. And blame the media for forcing Gainey to keep him. Trust me Gainey knew he sucked but his hands were tied. If we actually had a second line center, Koivu would not be forced to carry all the load and thus, not injured. Dam Ribero
