Well our leadership, Mr Captain was back last night and made no difference on how the team played. More stupid penalties, lack of skating and poor defense. The coach can only motivate this below average talented team so often to squeek out wins! His job is to coach concepts while the Captain's job is to motivate and get his peers working hard!
While many are asking for a coaching change, maybe it's time for a Captain change? Would we benefit most trading for a full time Captain with solid leadership ability or with a new coach? Saks one year contract could land us a solid player longer term. I'm positive Koivu and Gainey will not put pen to a long term contract or it would of already happened!
Perhaps the funniest post I have read in a while. Are you aware that Koivu is one of the most respected leaders in all of the NHL?
The problems are simple. This team lacks a second line center, and consistent goaltending. Plus, all the injuries have not helped( Kovalev, Bonk, Koivu, Plek etc).
Saks vs coach? Both the least of the problem...were you for real or just posting to get a reaction?
Ribero, now there is a problem. Just a useless little boy, with no heart, no leadership, no nothin. Gainey rolled the dice here and hoped we would have an adequate one two punch with Koivu and Ribero. As it turned out we entered the ring with one hand tied behind our backs. Koivu did all he could before having no help wiped him out.
Ribero is the problem...unfortunately, no solution as his trade value is less than Gaston Gingras at the moment( I think teams might even take Gingras out of retirement over Ribs at the moment!).

You said it Muller, Koivu has value and is playing out his last season! He makes a juicy trading commodity! A Ribs trade will not improve our team dramatically if at all while Saks value can land us a more robust full time player for a few more seasons. Changing the coach will be a short term gain while trading Saks will be a long term gain as the team needs fresh blood. Why not turn a free agent to be into a long term gain?
I agree, trade Sak, Kovy, Theo and throw in Markov while you are at it. Bring in more guys like Ribs to solidify the lineup. What a joke, it's not April 1st yet.
I only watched a few minutes of the third so didn't know how Sak played. Checking the stats today I see he got 2 assists, played about 19 minutes and was +1. Not bad for his first game back. Nice to see. Too bad the other lines didn't take his lead.

I never suggested trading Koivu at all. Koivu is one of guys on this team provides real value to the lineup. Even if Montreal wanted to trade him, he would not have GREAT value because of his injury problems.
The best value you would get for him IMO is towards the end of the year if a stanley cup contender wanted to take a real run. They may give up two real solid future prospects or something. But that is only if Montreal misses the playoffs. Otherwise they keep Koivu and I figure have a legitimate run at being the "darkhorse" if they stay healthy.
No team is going to give up some player who is presently good. Certainly nowhere near as good as Koivu.
He may be traded at the end of the year as part of a re-build statagy. I can only hope that if that happens Koivu wins the cup that his heart and play deserve. Of course I would rather see Koivu stay and be part of the "plan" and get rid of Ribero( Ultimately it is Ribero that screwed up this team...seriously. I could make the argument so that everyone would understand, but it would be tiresome to defend it.
Again, never suggested Trade Koivu. That would be the icing on the "dumbass" cake I figure( unless you resighn yourself to a "new" 5 year plan where Montreal misses the playoffs for the next 3 years or so...)
