many issues...mainly goaltending!!

I will say again that Theodore has to be our best player each night and he has been maybe twice or three times all year.....and that doesn't cut it for our marquee player.  His rebound control has been brutal and it hurt us again last night.  I can't remember the last game he stole for us.  Riberio can't score for the life of him and Dandenaeult continues to be the worst offseason acquistion in years.  This team is in dire need of a major shakeup and BOB GAINEY better wake up because we are slippin' and fast.   Looking at our farm system and our recent draft picks there isn't much hope on the horizon.  Speaking of major shakeups....how about a new head scout and staff.  Believe me folks, as a guy who watches Chipchura regularliy.....he'll be no saviour....he'll be a career 3rd or 4th liner.  Price doesn't even make team Canada and Latendresse has a date with the bench last night and has been held pointless in the tourney.  How did a guy like Bourdon(defenseman) go unpicked when he plays junior right in Quebec?????????  I just don't see Bob Gainey's long range plan.....do you?????

All of these issues will be solved once a new coach his in place I am sure. Theo will stop pucks, Dendeneault will be the player that he was in Detroit, Bonk will score 20, Koivu will be healthy, Souray will get back with his wife and Zednick will look like he belongs in the NHL and not the Slovakian Beer league.

Gainey was lucky to utilize some of Savard's drafts this season. As far as making his own mark on the team, it sure doesn't amount to much so far. You make some good points about his drafts also. There was some talented canadian players to be had but he came up with Kotzishen(spelling?) A floating Rushian with siesures????

EVERY DRAFT IN THE PAST 4-5 YEARS HAS BEEN SAVARDS WORK!!! Gainey simply is Savards puppet when it comes to draft day. When Gainey took over Savard was put in charge of prospect development and scouting. When Gainey wants to know who is out there he asks Savard. So Gainey benifiting from Savards drafts is far from a good point. Now as for Gaineys mark ...can you say KOVALEV?!?!?!?!?!? Who did savard bring to the team that litterally can change a game by himself? Zednik? Bulis?.... Oh and what about Gainey picking up Begin...that has got to be one of the best pick-ups of the decade for the habs!!! Gaineys stand against the "yellow fans" who boo Brisebois!! That took LOADS of class and i respect the man greatly for that!!! I think Gainey is doing a GREAT job and i also think your not crediting the man enough for his work. Shall i go on?

The only big mistake Gainey has made so far was the Garon for Bonk/Huet trade. Then again he didn't know what the new NHL would look like at the time.

At the time it was a genius trade...Garon was wating away...we needed a new checking center with Juneau gone and Bonk is big, and has had soem past success on a good team. Turns out...Bonk is a bust...or has been so far...

And I blame two people for this.  Scouting director Pierre Gauthier for masterminding this awful trade, and GM Gainey being talked into it.   Over the weekend I read that Mathieu garon has solidified (unofficially) his position with the LA Kings as their number 1 goalie.

I am a huge Bob Gainey guy but his scouting staff is beyond brutal and has been for 20 yrs.  Who is the last big name we have gotten through the draft..........probably Koivu.  I can't understand some of these drafts over the past 5 yrs(Kositisyn, Perezogan, Price, Hainsey, Komisarek,etc.).  Last year we are finally in a postion to get an impact player, picking 4th or 5th(can't remember) and we pick a goalie who was slated to go late first round, likely early second round.  This goalie goes on to get cut from the World Junior team.  I hope Bob and his staff can prove me wrong......but there were countless other impact players that we overlooked.  In addition, with exception to Kovalev, who is the last elite player we have sighned through free agency?????  Can't think of one.....me neither.  It's time to shake up this team and let's start with whoever is the director of scouting(Pirre Gautheir?, Timmons?, Savard?).  It's also time for Gainey to show a hearbeat from his office and make a move of any sort.
