C- Vincent Lecavalier, LW- Fredrik Modin, 4th round draft pick
To Tampa Bay
C- Mike Ribiero, LW/RW- Richard Zednik, Pierre Dagenais, 2nd Round Draft Pick
This gets montreal a big center that will take A LOT of work off saku, add loads of scoring and size and leadership. Also gets montreal a big LW that can score hit and kill penalties. Montreal gets rid of their soft center but he is very skilled which tampa...who is one of the biggest teams in the league wont have a problem taking. Ribs gets to keep Dagenais with him...which again will help us....and Zednik is a proven scorer when on his game. Playing along with richards and st. louis will really help.

All these trades always sound the same .. Montreal gets this, Montreal get that. What the heck does Tampa get? I'll tell you. Dead wood! Ribs and Dag? Where are the hockey pucks? Who throws that in?

The fun part of these postings is that we can play "what if..." 'till the cows come home. Having said that, I think part of the historical trade problem has been that we have sacrificed known entities for the hope that a different talent will thrive with the team. (we're not alone in that respect - the uncertainty is part of the very nature of trading.) For example, instead of trading Zednick, he needs to be one of the team's anchor points.
Personally, I long for the days when a kid from Quebec was more than likely to play for the Habs. If that kind of tradition could only have been retained, think of what we might look like today!
Of course, the rest of the league would look different as well - but maybe that would expose other weaknesses, to the betterment of the game. Oh well, like I said in the first line, one can only wonder "what if...!)
your all forgetting Zednik and a 2nd round pick are in there aswell! 2nd round picks are a lot in trades. I figure Ribeiro 2nd round pick for lecavalier, and zednik and dagenais for modin. Remember Ribiero outscored lecavalier last season. The kid CAN score and is a great passer. Tampa sheds alot of salary and doesnt lose much talent. Their team stays competetive and with the extra money they have they can fill another hole.

Johab - You might be able to make a trade like that in your fantasy hockey league but the NHL is reality and Tampa's GM if he made that trade would have the rest of the league coming after him to pick off the rest of his good players off his roster.....(sorry for being so blunt)
