Slanging match between Bégin and Kovalev

Printable version

Answer in this article
AnswerSteve Bégin
Steve Bégin Friday December 23, 2005 - (PC) - the journalists were pilot of a sharp slanging match between Alex Kovalev and Steve Bégin with their arrival in the cloakroom after the defeat of 4-2 of the Canadian.

The Russian veteran was out of him and it passed a soap to Bégin, which cut court to the muscular exchange while going there from some well felt swearwords.

The defender Francis Bouillon had to interpose in order to calm Kovalev. A first in the career of several veterans journalists...

Questioned afterwards, the two men minimized the importance of their divergences of opinions.

"It is nothing abnormal, that arrives after each defeat", affirmed Bégin, which would have preferred that the business does not burst at the great day.

Kovalev was presented in front of the press in order to defuse the situation.

"One often acts of the kind between players, after the periods or the matches. And that should always be like that, it launched. It is by not accepting the defeat that one will become better. One should all push oneself in the back. It is in this way that each one of us will improve."

Kovalev did not aim Bégin in particular while speaking about the kind. It is the against-performance of the team which made him lose north, it indicated.

"There is no baffle between Steve and me. One undoubtedly will take a beer together at a given time.

"One badly began our voyage and it is preferable to burst the abscess immediately."

When it was asked to him whether there were a thing in particular which it had not appreciated, he simply answered: "One cannot hope to thwart a guard of the hardening of Olaf Kolzig by stripping throws pain-killers coming from the blue line".

What he wanted to undoubtedly say, it is that the Canadian should have attacked the net of Kolzig as Capitals did it at the place of Cristobal Huet in third period.

"One made too many errors in our zone, mentioned Bégin. One cannot do that against a valiant team like Capitals. It is known that they work extremely, that they have good fast players who sink towards the unfavourable net."

The trainer Claude Julien, as for him, described as "normal" the slanging match between two players frustrated to have lost.

"One has of the guy of character in the cloakroom, of the guy which does not agree to lose, it commented on. When you have of the guy of character like them, you know that you t'en will leave."

The trainer said that the Canadian will have all to start again after having sabotaged the brilliant performance of Tuesday against the Senators of Ottawa.

"One will have to start again in Atlanta, December 26. It was not a good match to be lost which that one ", concluded Julien.

dude i don't even care about the fight anymore after reading that translation... that is one of the funniest things I have seen in a long time.

"One cannot hope to thwart a guard of the hardening of Olaf Kolzig by stripping throws pain-killers coming from the blue line".

What the hell does that mean? It made me laugh if anything so it can't be all bad.

That was a bad translation, but the real meaning behind what Kovalev was saying is that they can't expect to beat a goalie like Kolzig simply by letting shots go from the blue line. I totally agree with him, they need to go to the net more and stop making goalies like Kolzig look like supertars.

This is how I felt this morning:

"One badly began our voyage and it is preferable to burst the abscess immediately."

Well, I just listened to some of the game on CJAD so I don't know much to comment on.  Just seemed like all of a sudden the Caps woke up and Huet caught some unlucky breaks.

I take it some of you have translation software?  It's an imprecise science, to be sure.  Maybe we should start a new section of similar translations on this Board.  That was a great read!

We should be careful if we do this, however, that the business does not burst at the great day.

For those who wish a readable version Mario has it on the site lol..at any rate, I am glad that Kovalev stepped up and said something. What he did was waht I have been saying all along that needed to be done. Long after CJ is enjoying the rest of his paid contract in Jamaica, the guys in that dressing room are what remains. And they need to be held accountable to each other. In the absence of Koivu, Kovalev stepped up and said what needed to be said and I commend him for that. He is right. Begin woudl have tried to shoot from the nosebleed section last night if he could have.
