Well . . . with Kovy in the lineup I believe we win tonight.  The Habs outshot Minny 33-28 while missing two regulars in Begin & Pleks for most of the game.  That was a cheap penalty to Ryder in OT.

But, Kovy won't make us a top ten team, that's for sure.

Habs have gone 4-6-3 without Kovy. I think if we had Kovy in the lineup it is likely that our record would have been better considering he is a game breaker.

Let's count the record in the next 13 games after he comes back and see if we do better or not. I can guarantee our record will be better than 2 games under .500.

With Kovy and Sak on the number one line it really puts a lot of pressure on the other team to contain them. Take either one out of the lineup and it's pretty easy to put a game plan in place against the Habs. When Kovy is on his game watch out.

John- one thing I do NOT see here is the lack of effort that And-O seems to see. Yes this team has lapses in concentration. That has everything to do with their age and not effort. What I saw tonite was a total team effort with little more than an AHL lineup to be honest. Bottom line is that Sunny did not score on his penalty shot and the Habs did not score on the OT PP and Minnesota did (by the way I taped that game and looked at the so called "call" on Ryder in OT and it was a total joke. Without question a "makeup call". Too much of this "Oh i called one on them so I best call one on you now" stuff going on) Shame to see the refs, for the 100th time this season,. decide a game.

John is correct in his assessment of Kovalev and his impact on team peformance. That begs the question: What are we missing to compete every night?

-another power forward?

-a solid quarter-backing D-Man?

I think that what the team needs is bona fide role-players that do not fill in for injuries, but stick with their own roles even when the team is playing hurt. With a little more depth up front, or with a solid committment to develop the rooks, Bulis would not have to find himself playing #1 Rightwing if Kovy goes down...

No man is a team.  Kovalev is a huge part of the team, and the more functioning parts there are, the better the team will be.
