Canadiens defenseman Sheldon Souray has been battling through a sticky divorce all season, but the 29-year-old is finally starting to regroup on ice, reports the Montreal Gazette.
Souray, who has also been fighting through foot and groin injuries, has seen his name swirling around the trade winds lately.
According to the Gazette, Souray wants to remain in Montreal, and firmly denies rumors he's asked to be traded.
He expresses deep gratitude to Habs GM Bob Gainey and head coach Claude Julien for their patience through his difficult ordeal.
In 24 games with the Canadiens this season, Souray has just one goal and seven assists, five of which have come in his last seven games.
