...........but I can't resist a plug for Halifax.


I just heard on the radio that Halifax won the Canadian bid for the Commonwealth Games (forgot what year, but I'll be an old man by then....)


Still no guarantee that Canada will get the nod for the Games, but if it does, Halifax is it.

2014. They actually had some people come and look at my floor (21 Loyola) as a possible place for the athletes to stay during the games. Apparently we put on a good show.

Is Loyola the one with the telescope on top?  That's the one I lived in (14th floor) for three years.  We called it "High Rise Two" at the time, but I forget the official name.

couple more months and ill personally know how good the city of halifax is....really lookin forward to it!

Didn't want to start a new thread just to say this, but our curling guys just beat Sweden in the final to take the European championship. 'll be looking forward to another Canada vs. Norway final in the upcoming olympics!

You only usually see Canada vs Norway in whaling courts!

You must be thinking Canada vs. Spain in the Tarbot Wars......... or Canada vs. Denmark over property rights to a miniscule deserted island north of the Arctic Circle.

Not exactly.  And I'm struggling to find a catchy title (Tactics in the Arctic? Rhumba in the Tundra?)

Well, we will be playing each other in next years world championship as well, along with the US and Denmark. Our only hope is to beat Denmark to avoid relegation!
