Just wondering, last time there was hockey there were big debates about Ribs over Saku. How Ribs was a great player, blah, blah, blah. This year, he is playing the same way but no one is defending him.
A poster who was really behind him last year was AB Habman, no comments about him this year?
AB Habman still defends him once in a while, but not to say he's better than Koivu. I think it's clear there's no comparison between Koivu and Ribeiro.
They went the same place the Julien fans went. Off the bandwagon.
Couldn't have said it better myself...
I am a fan of Ribeiro but i'd rather watch him play than waste my time defending him on forums. I'm sure he'll defend himself just fine in games to come.

Hopefully those games will feature a cartoon duck on his front

HUH?? He has never done anything in his NHL career that would suggest he has anything todefend. Unless you figure a few "fancy boy" plays and some points during useless games count as wonderful!
Oh sure "fancy boy" will pop his head out for a few games and all the Ribero fans will be back. Never realizing that Ribero will never be an intergral part of any stanley cup team...Makes me wonder why people like him so much...I wonder what it could be.
Hey JohnM...at least all the Ribs fans don't need to sit and wonder when their guy is going to be healthy enough to dress again like us Koivu and Bonk supporters!!!
...I'm wondering how much shorter Koivu and Bonk's injuries would have been if only they had done what Zednik did (shut it down at the first sign of trouble)???
In fact, according to some things I've read and heard, I wonder if either guy has been 100% healthy at any time this season...and that makes for a fine line between hero and stupid!
At any rate, it would be great to get both back...and Kovalev...all in one night!!!

I have defended him this season when the blame was totally pointed to him for the whole teams poor play. I have mentioned also that I reallize he shouldn'd be our second center and that Gainey should have addressed this already. I also praised him last season because he at least was healthy enough to put up points and was intrumental in getting the Habs to the playoffs. He's no power forward but his offense helped big time last season to get us to post season.
Also this season, I have really enjoyed his video team clips! lol
According to reports from the team 990 this afternoon, Ribs has mentioned he is being put up against other teams top lines and that is why he is not producing. He also mentioned that he is looking forward to moving back to the number two spot. Doesn't sound like much of a competitor to me.
If I were him I would be more concerned about being relegated to 4th line duties or off the team entirely.
As for Bonk's injury, well with or without him, there aint much of a difference. Sak would have been back last night if not for the flu. He will miss tomorrow's game because of it as well.
Hey c'mon JohnM...I don't think that you are being fair!
All indications are that Bonk has been playing hurt all season...and, afterall, he has been fairly efficient at filling the role given to him by the coach and GM (if you don't like that role...blame the coach and GM). It is well documented that both guys expect Bonk to lead the checking line PERIOD
Granted, he should have his 5-to-8 goals by now...but, once healthy, he'll produce more...that is only logical - yes!?!?!?!
And-o is FAR more worried about Ribeiro's role.
...at least Radek Bonk has the potential to anchor either a scoring line OR a checking line!
What exactly does Ribeiro bring to the table?
...just give Radek a 5 game trial period once he gets back into the line-up!

I was fuming when i heard this on Team990 today. Okay, I admit, i have NEVER been a Ribs fan. I think he's benefited from the media giving him an easy free time all this time. He is at best a borderline 2nd line player. A show-man for sure.

You, Ando, a Koivu supporter??????????? Are there two Andos?
Not to stir anything up (OK, maybe), but you've been rubbing your hands in glee all year waiting for him to hurt his knee. I must have been away whenever you said anything good about him.
Please explain.

im still a ribs fan, the guy is good, you cant deny it. ( Again he is near the tops in scoring on the team....2nd at the moment....koivu is fisrt) anyway....the guy has done it quietly this year, he doesnt seem to be producing but he has 22 points so far...only 4 less then koivu....koivu has played less games though. I do however not like the attitude the kid has, theres no denying the fact he is very cocky. I like he will help the habs one day by leaving and landing us an even better player in return. But for now, im happy with the fact he produces....cocky or not...

Hmmm...disturbing message. One thing to say Ribeiro's a "fancy boy" another to say if you like Ribeiro you must be one too. ...hey Muller, what's all this about? Smithers getting to you?
I've always been attracted to the "misunderstood" flashy-type players, but for some reason, I can't seem to get myself to like Ribs. His attitude is piss-poor and his willingness to speak to the media is the only thing that's keeping him from being crucified by them.
I'm patient, so I'll give the kid time. But after this season, I think the team needs to judge whether or not we have a second line centre.

Plouf. I must be misunderstood. By "fancy boy" I mean weak along the boards, defensively, and just plain one dimensional. Worse than that, he barely does anything offensively either!!!!! My question is, why would anyone like this kind of player???? There must be some reason and it would be interesting to know what it is. I am sure it has very little to do with hockey.
And Smithers and I are getting along great these days. I just wish he would stop wearing my underpants...not that there is anything wrong with that
Agreed Muller...he's one-dimensional all right. I used to be a fan of Ribeiro, but I find him so frustrating these days. I think he's much worse in the new NHL, which I never would have expected.
Like Mr. Pablo Honey, I actually like the "misunderstood flashy-type players" sometimes too (the Randy Moss-types, who give you a lot but also give you a headache and p*** off their teammates, keeps the team on edge - too much comfort isn't a good thing, you want to have them both team-oriented and competitive with each other, a lot of coaches will tell you that).
But Ribeiro is getting on my nerves, because he's just not good enough at the moment. Especially when he talks about Ryder, where he should stick to talking about his own play.
