Get rid of Theo and play Danis and Huet the rest of the way.  We are no better off.  Trade Theo to Vancouver for Bertuzzi and Jovanski and sign Luongo next year.

I have said this before we are an average team and we will be fighting for the 7th and 8th spot at the end of the year.

Someone has to lead this team - I don't mean by example!  We need vocal leaders on the bench.

What is with playing Dags anyway - give the ice time to someone else.  Garth Murray plays one shift - lays our a defenseman and sits the rest of the game - I don't get it.  He has some intensity to him at least let him play!

The sky hasn't fallen but is getting close.

In other words, throw our season away. Do you honestly think Vancouver will trade 2 all-stars away for Theo? NO. Do you honestly think Danis and Huet can do better than Theo in net? Highly unlikely! Do you honestly think Gainey will sign Luongo next season. I wouldnt hold my breath on that one either. Re-think what you just said and im sure you could think of some better and more realistic solutions this time.

Gotta agree, even if we had a reliable replacement for Theo, nobody wants to pony up for that contract/performance package. As johab said, that would be the most lopsided trade since I got an Henri Richard rookie card for my spare Dunc Wilson card in 1972.

Have said it before and will say it again. We have no quick fix. New goalie, new coach are not the answers. I will be totally honest with you. I replayed the game today and watched every goal on Theo. Analyize it to death if you like. Too many rebounds, down too soon. Whatever. We were guilty of being too slow and very disorganized in our own end. Behind the blueline we are a very , very slow team right now and it shows. That is the reason we get so many clutch and grab penalties (that and sheer stupidity). The forwards are trying to help out back there because the dmen keep getting beat one on one. I was forced to watch the Laffs game last night at my team hockey party. Watch Beflour. He gives a TON of rebounds up. The difference is that the Laffs have  a defence. Mccabe is one of the best in the business right now. Kaberle, not shabby at all. Ken Klee, very solid defensively. When Eddie coughs a rebound the puck is gone because the dmen for Toronto do their job. We were just miserable last night and I honestly felt sorry for Theo at times. I have been the first to call him out in the past. But like my ex wife's lawyer did to me, Theo was left to hang out and dry last night.

Luogno wants to play for montreal though, I don't see this as far out. His family lives here, and he constantly gets home sick, especially buckled with the lack of success he's had down south. If he doesn't go to a winning team I see this happening.

Barry's right (again!) D and Goalie are a sybiotic machine. One can't survive without the other. Quality D made Martin Brodeur, and already great goalie, a multiple Cup winner. Bass player and Drummer. Ham and Cheese. You can't have one without the other, and the better both are the better the combo platter is.

One needs look no further than Brodeur's performance this year. Without Scott "The Human Tank" Stevens and Niedermyer in front of him he has looked very average to say the least. I am not saying that Broduer is not a great goalie because he is. But he is looking very human this year without some of the stud dmen he had in the past.

Jay don't see that happening especially when he was quoted earlier in the year for saying that going to Montreal wasn't a high priority especially playing in a pressure cooker like Montreal and with the added pressure from being a home towner.
