I know I'll never catch up to davidb, but this weekend I'm going for my 500th post (and just saying so gets me one post closer! )  It was busy last weekend, but very slow this week; I guess we need games to get tounges wagging.

Roust up some topics, Boys and Girls!

Well there is one thing I've been meaning to ask you for a while so why not now. As you know I follow the Canadiens on CJAD, and every game starts out with the anouncment: "and now over to four time Stanley Cup champ Murray Wilson, etc, etc". Anyway when ever anyone mentions his playing days he always says these really disparaging things about himself like bad hands couldn't find the net, stuff like that. This got me wondering, so I looked up his stats the other night, and he did score 24 goals in one season. The question is, what sort of a player was he, what part did he play in that great team of the 70s?

Murray Wilson was a solid checking winger, a poor man's Gainey. One of the reasons Montreal was so great in those days was that we had guys like Wilson, Gainey, Jarvis, Risebrough, Tremblay, Lambert, Houle etc.... a great supporting cast.

In my view, he was a good talent on a team full of great talent.  He was a very good skater but had a bit of a time denting the twines (sort of like a Jan Bulis or a Russ Courtnall).  He had that 24-goal year, which was an indication of what he could do, but I think if he had been on a lesser team where he had a chance to play on a top 2 line reguarly, he could have had superior stats.  He was simply caught in the numbers on those great Habs teams of the 70's.  I really liked him, though; he was one of my favourites.

Why not do a team by team playoff preview of the new format playoffs, that'll take up 22

Hey, I'm boning up on my typing skills!

But you are quite right, Barry; I do need a job soon.  My wife and my dog are getting concerned.  I do have a few leads, but it doesn't look like anything will materialize before Christmas.  When it does, you lot will be the first ones to know!  Believe it or not, you all help keep me sane these days................

Very clever!  But that would take too long (plus I wouldn't have much to say about most of the teams) - I don't need big posts, I need a large number of small posts.  (That's how davidb does it.  I would guess Johab and Barry33 have posted more words than anybody, just not more posts!)

(Now 15 to go......)

Nilsey- for what it is worth (and seeing you and I travel in the same industry) I do pass your name around. I know you will find something soon. If not, I have an extra room in my apartment for you (your wife and I can stay in my room )

My God, you are quite right, Johab - thanks.  I must have been asleep when I wrote that one.  I guess we know who the cranial types are on this Board! Half-millenium it is!  And you catching my little faux-pas brings me one post closer!

Thanks Barry; I appreciate that (you passing my name around, that is, not the suggestion about our sleeping arrangements ).

One of my references is the President of the Atlantic Building Supply Dealers Association (ABSDA), Don Sherwood.  After 12 years, I am fairly well-connected in the industry, but I need every advantage I can get.  Thanks for your support!
