Correct me if I'm wrong, Nil, but isn't it sort of a statistical miracle that our record is what is is with the numbers we have put up so far?
I'm not sure why you're asking ME that question, since I'm not the one who posted that message................ but since you asked:
The answer is very simple - every one of the 15 wins was a squeaker, but we've been blown away a couple of times, hence the winning record despite the negative goal differential.
Miracle? No. Making a lot out of a little? Absolutely!

Well, I took two Stats courses, back in 1982, so for all intents and purposes, I've forgotten all I ever learned. But if you have this misguided idea that I know a few things, I'll go along with that charade for a while yet.............

Ahhhh... but I bet you're still a dab hand with a calculator... especially spelling rude things when viewed upside down (the calculator, not you, of course)

Let me answer that brooklyn. yes it is a small miracle and as Nil'd says, it shows that the team has done the most with the least. Even when we have everyone back, we are really missing a sniper (in the form of a 2nd line center if you prefer, I dont care as long as he can put the damn biscuit in the net). Further evidnce that the coaching staff is doing a good job. Now Gainey needs to go get a radical thing like T-A-L-E-N-T.
Regarding the Pens..makes you wonder what their goals scored stat would be without Crosby and Lemieux huh?

actually kinda shows how bad the pens really are... with all the "stars" on the team they still can't score a lot of goals. with out Crosby and Lemieux they would probably be in last place overall. do you think maybe the pens are the exact opposite of the habs? tons of talent but horrible coaching or is it the Rangers all over again?
i agree, Barry, that's why I'm not that bothered with the state of things now.. We have a solid foundation, and coaching that might only need a little tinkering (goalie coach?) Patience, and waiting for choice talent opportunities will put the Gohabs float in the habs victory parade (I think it should look like a giant bottle of Guiness on it's side wearing a dryden retro shirt) Mario can drive of course
And Salted, when they put that team together, it looked like Rangers 1999 jr. (no Russian primadonnas on board though) and look where it's got them, all hobbles and snobbles
And just to rub egg on my face, I was so wrong about the Rangers earlier in the year. Great team to watch if you haven't had the chance

I think you hit the nail on the head.barry33 feels that the Pens have more talent then the habs do right now (goaltending is questionable). barry33 feels that you cannot take a player with no coaching experience whatsoever (ie Mario Tremblay) and make him a head coach. Eddie O is not the answer.

I recently heard that he is legally blind in that eye. So I guess that means he can see shadows, or blurry objects. It still amazes me that he has the ability to play for a pro club. Makes me think about what could have been a remarkable career, Leaf or not.

Past stars. And that is the problem. Lemieux, Leclair, Recchi---all old and way past prime. Ganchar is a typical uninspired guy who has made his money and could care less. Palffy...well he is pretty good I think.

Thanks, heet. Good to see Sidney speak out that way - in a manner that doesn't show anyone up. I tell you, that man will be a team captain very soon, and a great coach in the future.
