Leafs Lose
Permalink Closed

For the first time in a very long time (ok I was bored on aTuesday night) I watched a Laffs game in it's entirety. Some things I noted:

  1. Leafs are now 15-11-3 (33pts) and have played 2 more games then the habs. Habs are 15-7-5 (35points). Key difference here is the amount of games we have lost in overtime. We have lost 5 games in overtime and have won 15 more. I think everyone will agree here that once a game goes to OT it can go either way. One shot and it is over. So had the 5 games we lost in OT gone our way we would be 20-7. Uhmmm not too shabby?

  2. Watching Lindros last night. It would be a contest right now as to who was a more selfish and lazy player, Bonk or Lindros. Lindros looked very "Bonk-Like" last night.

  3. Tucker- as much as I hate this idiot we could use him back in a Habs uni. He is leading the Laffs in goals.

  4. Tie Domi- never been a great skater but I can tell you that with the new rules he look spainfully out of place now.

One other thing. Look at the TSN game review and read the post game posts from laffs fans. "make a trade!".  ""We need a new coach!" "Lindros is useless!". Sound familiar?  This time off has allowed me to put our season to date in persepctive. We are 15-7-5. Even if we had, say, 3 out of the 5 overtime losses go our way, then we are 18-7-2.

Looks like Garon was spectacular in that game - 36 saves on 37 shots, and named the game's first star.

As for the Habs, how many have they won in OT or shootout?  I think it's one shootout and maybe three in OT?  So it could go either way.  Not to be "glass half empty", but realistic.   I think the Habs' record to date, given their level of play overall, is quite fair, if not flattering.  I'll take it any day.

No Tucker has 13 goals and i think McCabe has 11 or 12.... Still I wouldn't want Tucker back on the habs for anything, I hated him when he palyed for us before.

4 wins and 4 losses in OT and 1 loss and 1 win in shootouts.

Hey Barry33...And-o also watched the Leafs play last night!

My thoughts on the Leafs fortunes this season are as follows; WHEN their powerplay slows down...so will they!

Obviously there will be good and bad streaks...but, generally speaking, once the playoffs roll around, most teams quit taking stupid penalties and focus on eliminating scoring chances...alas the Leafs are destined to suffer their usual "also ran" status.

In fact, the Leafs are just plain ordinary when playing 5-on-5...and this will ultimately be their downfall.

However, And-o credits Pat Quinn (cough...spit) for utilizing the strengths of the Leafs roster in order to keep the powerplay clicking.

P.S.  Take you beer goggles off Barry33....Tie Domi is one of THE BEST skating enforcers in the game!  He actually skates quite well...and with passion and energy as well.  His great limitations are hands (and head) of stone.  If Barry33 wants to pick on a Maple Leaf with poor skating than And-o suggest Jason Alison (who could pass for Pierre Dagenais's twin brother when turning on ice).

Pretty even-Steven; thanks, Johab.

Actually not really beer goggles as much as I just plain cannot stand the idiot and perhaps trhat clouds my judgement. Good point on the Allison/dagenais comparision And-O. The guy is proving that his big years were fluke and he is looking horrible in the "new NHL".
