K, im honestly getting tired of all this Theo bashing. The guy let in ONE goal last night ( the other was off a player and he had no chance ) besides that he had a strong game!!! Yet your all over him about how hes hurting the team and that hes helping us lose?! Im sorry, where was the puck clearing in front of the net? EVERY time Theo lets in a goal its the end of the world and im getting sick of it. The guy WONT get shut-outs every night, the guy WILL let in the occasional bad goal, but while your putting him down take notice to all the GOOD saves he made last night!!! We came away with a win didnt we? Its almost impossible now to be excited or happy after the habs win cuz i KNOW coming back to this board there will be a landslide of negativity towards players. I can understand if you guys have a grudge cuz the guy is being paid 5million+ and even i agree that that is too much, but dragging on about it isnt going to help any. We ALL know his play right now isnt worth 5m+ but during his MVP season the guy got 1.5 million but he played better than guys getting 6 million. Did he turn around and say well im only being payed this much so ill only play that good. NO So why is it he has to play like hes the best player in the NHL EVERY night to you guys. He is the most important player on this team, and hes paid accordingly. Like it or not , without Theo we wouldnt be in 3rd in the conference! Id be suprised if we were in the top 8 without theo. If we are going to win a cup this decade, like it or not, THEO will be in net. He isnt going anywhere, Management prooved that when they signed him for that amount of money. So either accept it, or please keep the bashing to yourself, we've ALL heard it a thousand times, we all KNOW he isnt worth what hes making at the moment BUT the team is confident with him. We cant we as fans all do the same? Heres something you might wanna do next game....How about you watch the OTHER goalie, with the same baised mind your using against theo ( Its obvious some of you hate him ) and then come back to the board and let us know how the other guy did. Sometimes i think some of you would still be upset if we literally put a brick wall infront of the net to stop all pucks from going in. IT GIVES TOO MANY REBOUNDS!! PUCK CONTROL IS TERRIBLE!!!
This of course has already been posted by me in the post game thread but im just making sure what i said is heard. Im finding it really hard to enjoy reading this board when all it is is negativity. Theo is among the league leaders in WINS who cares if his GAA or SV% sucks. The offense and defense definately didnt over power the other team and make us win!!! I think Theo deserves ALOT more credit that you guys are giving him!!! Over-paid or not!

I can't recall the last game where Jose Theodore did not let in a cheap goal...whether he be on his knees too soon...or too deep in the net...or just plain off angle!
In fact, I can't recall the last game that Theodore just plain stole two points for the Habs!
Belfour does it regularly! Luongo does it regularly! Hasek, Brodeur and Turco do it regularly!
The reality is this.....Jose Theodore has pretty much played himself down into the middle rankings of NHL goaltenders so far this season. The kid hasn't adjusted well to the new equipment and he looks really out of place at times!!!
Right on, Nil! And I think it's absurd to talk about how bad Jose is, because he has stolen a number of games this year. There is the Atlanta game, which has already been pointed out, but does anyone remember the Tampa game? I thought they were the better team by far and Theodore came up big for us. So Johab is right: lets stop the Theodore bashing!
right on johab... most of us, well at least I was, very pissed about the loss in OT the other night, which I why I was talking about trading Theo... I should be like BARRY and wait until the next day to post so my posts are rational. but thats what its all about, posting with emotion.
i agree with the fact the theo bashing has got to stop. it is absolutely ridiculous to come on here after a 3-2 win and still have to read about how he should have stopped the 2 that got by him. give it up guys, i know the last couple years have been hard and we are used of complaining but do not go looking for reasons to be negative.
theo has come on strong lately and although i agree he has yet to be perfect, i have not seen too many players on the habs that have had a game worthy enough to be called perfect. if you can think of one please inform me. he as at least given us the chance to win in the majority of the games he has played this year.
if our offence was clicking at a high rate consistently and theo kept playing the way he has been, we would not find ourselves losing very many games. in the nhl this year, idealy you want to score at least 3 goals a game to support your goalie and if we can not do that, it is not theo's fault.

Actually I have to totally disagree with you regarding Murray being the perfect bench warmer Saturday Nilsey. I caught him on camera once being very slow in passing a water bottle down to Begin when he asked for it. Purely unacceptable for a bench warmer (trust me I have warmed many in my day). When Murray was asked for the bottle he needs to react right away. Perhaps if we had access to a slow motion replay of the incident it would paing Murray in a different light. In hid defence, I did not see how Murray was on towel passing or bench door opening which may have helped to redeem his poor bottle performance.

I didn't see this alleged "slow water-bottle pass" incident, but I'll take your word for it. I'll check the NHL.com site to see if they have it at 700KB. But you're right, totally unacceptable.

Sorry, but the fact that you think theo should regularly steal games is pathetic. Goalies arent supposer to steal games. When a goalie steals a game its because the players infront of him arent doing their jobs and he continueously has to bail them out. A good goalie however will make the occasional game saves when his players make a mistake. No team is perfect and no player is perfect. And on top of that, last time i checked, Hasek was goaltending for a team you could stick the towel boy in net for and still win, Brodeur has been anything BUT stellar this season, and Turco isnt even close to what he was last year either. Luongo however faces 40+ shots a game and is guarenteed to make a *luck save* The team theo had during his MVP season wasnt much better than the one florida has right now, and to be hoenst, theos play was MUCH better!!

Point taken in general on this thread, Johab, and I've been defending Theo too, sort of half-heartedly, but I do have to disagree with you about one thing you said. Theo should steal more games than he does, and not come up with stinkers every 4th game or so. He is being paid all-star amounts, and is expected to be the best player on the team or close to it. I don't think he's as bad as people have been saying, but to say he hasn't been somewhat disappointing given that he is being paid so much seems like denial.
IF you read the very first post in this thread, you'll see i said im not happy with Theo's play considering his play. What i am saying though in reply to and-o's post is Theo shouldnt have to steal many games, if your looking at your goaltender to regularly steal games, it shows weakness in your other positions. Theo will steal a few now and then, and thats how it should be. Most wins should be a team effort and not just one guy stealing the show. Guess thats what you get by being a goalie. IF a player makes a mistake, the goalie is there to back him up. Goalie makes a mistake....its the back of the net.
