I think that history has shown that most times a trade, coaching change or player shakeup is made, that there are usually immediate dividends (not always but 75% of the time). It is like when you start a new relationship (which I seem to have been doing weekly lately ) At first it is exciting and new and you can't wait to see the person. Then after awhile it becomes boring. (see guys I AM in touch with my feminine side and my emotions )
I think what happens is that it wakes up the players and they realize that "hey, I could be next". But after a couple of weeks the old habits reappear and it is status quo. Personally I feel that judging any trade or coaching change needs to take place after at least a month after the newness wears off. All I ask is that whatever changes Gainey makes (players or coaching) he makes with the LONG TERM in mind. Not a change that will turn us around briefly then have us fall back into our old habits. Personally. I feel that Boston made a mistake with Thornton. They will win a few right now because it was a wake up call, but in the long run they are the same team with the same porblems and issues.

Absolutely agreed! It's no surprise that Boston and San Jose have both picked up their play.
Question is, when does Boston hit the wall? Thornton was a serious player. They will regret that trade.
